My legs have never been so dry and shaving is killing me. What is the best shaving cream or gel for dry skin? I am willing to buy name brand and pay full price, that should tell you how bad it is! :rotfl2:

Have you tried the Intuition razor, I don't even need to use shaving gel with it.

The only one I ever shave with is Skintimate.. not sure how good it is, but my legs always feel much more moisturized after I shave, lol.

I LOVE the "shave the day" silky smooth shave cream from Bath and Body Work's True Blue Spa line. It is $12, but lasts a long time and you can use coupons for it. I often get it "free" with their "get 1 item free when you spend $$" promotions. It is very thick, like a lotion. Good luck!

I second using hair conditioner. I always use shampoo faster than conditioner so it's a great way to use up the excess.

As for the dry skin. I was having severe dry skin issues and the dermatologist had me start using Cetaphil Cream. (It's the kind in a jar that's a whipped cream not a runny liquid) every day right after my shower. I swear it's changed my life! No more itching.

This is what I use and there was a .55cent coupon in Sunday's paper! When I am done I apply Neutrogena's Body Oil! Now talk about heavenly! :cloud9:

Neutrogena's Body Oil is a delicately light sesame formula that instantly vanishes into the skin, sealing in moisture. Skin feels moisturized, soft, silky and looks radiant. You can buy it right at Wal-Mart/Target.

I will use skintimate or hair conditioner. Also, as soon as you are done shaving, put aloe on your legs and every night use moisturizer, even $1 store stuff works great.

Skintimate Cream Shave for sensitive skin... like a lotion and I've never reacted to it.

This is my favorite. I usually can get it for free at CVS or Rite Aid. But in a pinch any old conditioner will do as well. The cream Skintimate doesn't dry out my legs, but the gel stuff will on occassion.

:thumbsup2 this is how my skin survives Arizona hot & dry weather through summer! This body oil is the best and smells so good

I get mine at Costco, bigger bottle, better price ;)

I started using this stuff because regular shave creams/gels were killing my face: http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=212820&CategoryID=48806

Next thing I know I am constantly running out. I know I wasn't using that much of it. So I say to my wife, "Man I am really going to have to find something else to use, I'm going through the oil too fast." Well apparently my face wasn't the only thing being shaved with it. My wife claims it is the best thing she ever used for shaving. They also make an after shave cream that slows hair growth which I use after, and since that is disappearing fast too, I can only assume my wife has been using that as well.

I can say for face shaving it is the absolute best thing I have ever used. I only use the oil, nothing else on top of it, and it is amazing. Sure, it is 18.00 bucks a bottle, but her legs are worth it.

Yes, Hair Conditioner! I use up shampoo much faster, too. I also delute the conditioner a bit with water which still works and lasts longer :)

I also use my hair conditioner, shampoo, or regular body wash as well. Works great (and is cheap). I get my shampoo and conditioner from the Dollar Tree (Suave). :)

I use Skintimate as well. I haven't tried the hair conditioner thing and it would probably work but seeing as how my conditioner is alot more expensive than shaving gel, I'm going to stick to Skintimate.

I would never use my regular conditioner to shave either...way too expensive! But if I am at the store and I don't have a coupon or "deal" to get the shave gel really cheap I usually just buy whatever the cheapest conditioner is just for shaving....usually something like suave or VO5.

When we travel I compromise and usually just take a small travel bottle of cheaper conditioner like Pantene or Dove and use that for both hair and legs. I try to travel as lightly as possible. My husband shaves with the conditioner on vacation as well and says it works just fine in a pinch.

:thumbsup2 Same here, I buy several in January when they do the "buy 2, get 2".

I have one of these in my camper. Its great for travel.

I've been using a bar of Dove soap. It works just as good as Skintimate and Conditioner and is a lot cheaper because it lasts forever.

I use skintimate, too, or hair conditioner...the thicker the better. The dermatologist said not to shave your legs first thing, let the steam soften your skin a bit. When I get out, I pat my legs and slather on Johnson's baby oil GEL, lavender. Works wonders!
