Ladies, are these popular where you live?

These were really popular over the last couple of years (especially with teenagers for some reason) but they seem to be fading out of style now.

Personally I think they look too much like diaper bags!

Those bags look like the ones that the older ladies uses as I was growing up.

I see tons of girls at my college using them, I'm not really a fan though.

I have... let's just say too many. But I'm in Virginia also and they are very popular. I love the new design with pink roses on a black background.

MTE! More power to those of you that like them, but they're definitely not my cup of tea.

Pretty big in my area too.

BTW Blondie....love your step-dancer. It could be me dd!!!! Can't wait for her to get home so I can show it to her!!

Those and other kinds of fabric bags are in style here. Personlly, I prefer a smaller bag, but I may get one when I have a second baby. My current diaper bag just isn't up for that job.

I never noticed them around here but when I was visiting the inlaws in DE a couple of weeks ago I saw them everywhere.

I don't really like them that much.

I never noticed them either, but I'm not a purse person either. I like my cheap Disney purses.:teeth:

They have been around here a few years. Maybe they started down here and are just spreading up north!

Hallmark, always a day late and a dollar short, has come out with a crappy knock-off line, too.

 The Hallmark stores here carry the Vera Bradley bags..not knock-offs. I've tried to steer clear of them b/c they're so pricey, but fell in love with one yesterday. Don't know if I can stand to pay 54.00 for a bag/purse.

they've been around here for the past couple of years. i agree with the diaper bag comments, though. i guess they are NMS.

So everyone I know has one, right, I mean everyone, they are huge here - I am definately not one to be a follower but my Mother in law on the other hand loves a fad. I have never seen the point before with these bags, you would not believe the abuse I give my purses and I figure why would I want to wash the darn thing all the time. So....

She gives me one for Christmas, a big one, and now I am hooked. I love it and think it is very beautiful. I have the jasmine pattern - black with white flowers. I can use it for a diaper bag now that my son is older and use it for my every day purse. I do really like the pattern now and for some reason I really like to look at the purses everywhere since you see them wherever you go. So I guess I am a reluctant convert to foofy floral bags.

I think they are ok for a diaper bag but not a purse.

where I used to live, they were all the rage with the "tennis set". They were starting to wane not that long ago though.

I dont see them as much in my new area.

We also carry the Vera bags and did not order the Hallmark ones. Sometimes customers perceive that you are trying to deceive them. We avoid that at all costs!

At first I wasn't too fond of them either.

But now that I'm seeing them all over, I'm beginning to like them!

And $54 is a bargain compared to what I've spent on my Dooney & Bourkes!

Regarding the Hallmark knock-offs... I just learned that they are not making the line anymore because Vera threatened to take away all the Hallmark stores Vera accounts unless Hallmark stopped!

:upsidedow I swear there must be some sort of a hallucinogenic compound in the patterns because I really was not fond of them before owning one, but now, I go gaga for new patterns and feel a need to have one for every season. Not that I will own one for every season, its just this feeling that overtakes my Yankee frugality. Yikes.
