Ladies, are these popular where you live?

they have been huge in my area for a long time. They have a big show in Fort Wayne every year that people stand in line for hours just to get in the door. All the hotels in the area will be full because people will drive from far away to get there.

And $54 is a bargain compared to what I've spent on my Dooney & Bourkes!
I can only imagine. I can't even say that name without dollar signs flashing in my eyes. :teeth:
I love my cheap target bags :) Hmmm...might have to break down and search ebay for this one

...or just let go of the cash and buy it.
Also typically hate green but this appeals to me for some reason

Ahem....yes, I might have been thinking the same thing (while admiring my new "it" bag I bought a few weeks ago). ;)

Actually Vera Bradley is an Indiana Institution. They are based right here in lovely Fort Wayne. So they seem to pass through regions, as trends, but they will never go out of style here. The Family that owns the company is very well respected here and do a lot of philanthropic work. We will continue to support The Vera Bradley Co.

Keep the Faith!
Tracy

Yeah they are big in Richmond.

Can you believe you have to get approved to sell those?

We've had to do that for Dept 56 and Swarovski Crystal (which we were approved for both) but for a quilted handbag?

DISShopkeeper - Vera Bradley couldn't take away all of the Hallmark accounts - it would be based on the individual owners and chains and who they have dealt with.

Corporate stores didn't get an account with them because of the previous selling of the knockoffs

They are very big here in the South. My sister owns a Pharmacy/Gift shop and Vera bags are all she shows in her print ads.

They DO look like diaper bags, now that you mentioned it.

I have a cloth bag similar to that one. I got it from my dh's grandmother before we were married, 11 years ago. I keep my sewing supplies in it. Guess it's true, everything comes back in style. :)

And I had a quilted diaper bag/backpack for ds #1, now 8 yo. So yes, it does look like one to me as well. ;)

I have been using Vera Bradley's off and on for over 10 years and love them but...

The last one I bought, a fanny pack, has a "made in China" label in it. This disturbs me. Unless I can be assured they aren't made there...I won't buy more.

For those of you who don't like the bags you might want to check out the accessories. They are really nice too.

They seem to be quite popular here in Atlanta. I have seen lots of people of all ages that have them, but they seem to be very popular with college students here too. Another fad in purses seems to be the resurgence of Louis Vuitton.

Yep, they are pretty popular around here. I like the looks of these bags but I've never got around to actually buying one and they'll be out of style before I ever get around to doing it, lol.

Ick! I can't believe college-age girls have these purses. These are the kind of purses that 80 year old women carry around this area. I would never be caught carrying one of these.

These hideous quilted creations are quite popular in the South for some inexplicable reason...The bag is clunky, shapeless, and usually has repulsive fabric patterns...

Thank God for designers like Kate Spade that make sleek, stylish bags! D & B makes nice bags, too.. I love Louis Vuitton, but some of those bags are almost too gaudy for my taste!

That's strange, RNMOM. One of their best selling points is the "Made in America" feature. You know, they discontinued fanny packs a long while ago.....

TBH, I hadn't noticed them where I live, but there was a sad story on the neews last night about a nother rape(Chicago) and a lady walking by in the background was carrying one, so I guess they are being used here, at least in the city!

They look like a nice diaper bag to carry. I would never carry this as a purse. The Louis Vuitton purse is making a big, big comeback. They are everywhere.

Goodness, these bags are EVERYWHERE here in Boston!!! I personally think they look like something a grandmother would use, but to each their own! :)

It's funny, my DD 19 loves them and has several. She wanted to buy one for her grandmother and she told her not to - they looked too old fashioned for her. :D
