I'm at a horrible fork in the hairdo road - help!

I spent the last 2+ years growing out my bangs, because "no bangs" was in. Well, here I am now, sick to death of my hairstyle and ready for a change. Is it safe to go back to bangs, or will I look goofy?

Do you have bangs? If yes, why? If no, why not?

Yup they are. Just read it in People magazine. (And we all know they are the authority on such things. ;) )

I've always had bangs--most of time I sweep them over to the side. But over the last few months I've been letting my hair grow, and I was going to try to let the bangs grow out too. I give up. I'm getting too old for this stuff.

Did you hear that 80's style is coming back? :crazy2: Start ripping the necklines on those sweatshirts ladies and wearing ankle socks with pumps. :scared: Can't you just hear the theme from Flashdance playing? :faint:

Thanks Barb. I am getting too old for this stuff too. Growing out bangs was a living hell and I swore I'd never go back to them once they were gone. But I'm just sick of all this hair.

I need to simplificate my life!!!!

It figures that bangs are back in style, I just finally grew mine back

I just grew my bangs out too! I'm not too into what's hot and what's not so that doesn't really effect my decision but I have been going back and forth over my idea to grow them out. I feel I have a big forehead although everyone tells me I don't. After growing them out I've realized that it's so much easier styling your hair without them plus I know we've all woke up on those mornings where we slept on our uh heads wrong and had bangs that stood straight up in the air (ok so maybe I'm alone in this lol I've sure freaked my son out with this overnight hairstyle a time or two) I just need to find a new hairstyle in general I guess.

Bangs are back? Oh no.....:( I hate having them. I can't fix mine at all.

Can someone please explain what "bangs" are? :p

Are they wispy bits of hair like a fringe?

I just got all of my hair cut off and I love it! I have had 80s bangs for far to long (figures NOW they are back in) but I went from having hair over half way down my back to hair that barely touches my shoulders. I used to have to brush and curl and tease my bangs and hair spray and brush some more and it took FOREVER. Now I just wash it, put mousse in it, blow dry it, spritz it with hair spray and I'm ready. I never knew my hair could exsist without a curling iron.

I say whatever makes you the most comfortable. I don't know that I will ever let my hair get that long again.

bangs are "in" for the celebrities in magazines, etc. but there is no way I am cutting bangs again after growing them out all these years.

but I have noticed that its a very full, blunt, straight on your forehead bangs. not wispy or "up".
think blunt and bothersome. :hyper:

Break out the scissors — bangs are back! Whether they wear them long (like Catherine Zeta-Jones) or short (like Natalie Portman), stars are getting the fringe benefits.

Does that also mean that "big hair" will be fashionable again?:earseek: :earseek:

Never got rid of them. Too many wrinkles on my forehead.

I think your best bet is to leave them semi-long. maybe not the full length of your hair, such as sarah jessica parkers: you can tell they are bangs, but a bit longer than the usual 'cut at the eye brow/eye line' type bangs.

I have had bangs most of my life thanks to a HIGH forehead. Bangs will be in for me until I am no longer am walking around. Peggie

Funny how people want bangs to hide their big foreheads, and I want them to hide my too small forehead.:p

But good point - I can also use them to hide the wrinkles.:D

No matter what my hairstyle I have had bangs since I was at least 3 years old (I'm 40 now), in spite of a bad "trimming incident" when I was a senior in HS where I spent the last few months with bangs that were WAY too short (you know how it goes, mom trims the bangs, has to even them up, and even them up, and even them up.....). Being in style is not a priority of mine.
You know, my forehead is one place I have NO wrinkles at all--perhaps the bangs have kept it moisturized!!

I never knew bangs were in. I had bangs from about 5th grade all the way through high school, mostly to hide my big forehead. But I grew out my bangs about 2 years ago when I got out of high school because they were getting annoying and I needed a change. I don't think I'd go back to having bangs, because now I like it better without.

I think I was born with them. :p I've had them all my life so I guess it's good they're back in, even though I never knew they were out.
