Lacy had her follow up visit with the eye specialist today so that they could decide whether they could save her eye or what course of action to take.

After examining her they found that the glaucoma had totally destroyed her eye beyond repair and that she no longer could see with her right eye.

Disclaimer... do not read further if you are eating!

Monday Lacy will go into the doggie hospital for a procedure to make life more comfortable for her. Only thing is the procedure sounds anything BUT comfortable. They are going to insert a needle into her eye, injecting the tissue in her eye that produces the fluid that is building up with something that will kill the tissue, basically killing that eye. This will stop the pressure that is making her uncomfortable and will allow her to keep the eye for cosmetic reasons (we hope).

Lacy is in much better shape now.. in fact Matthew brought her by my store today after getting her from the vet and she had lunch with us (the lucky dog had a hamburger from Burger King.. the other 4 dogs were NOT happy when they smelled that on her breath when she got home!) While she was at work she worked the crowd and had customers and employees all gathering around her telling her what a sweet and pretty little dog she is ( like she didn't already know that... that is why we call her the Diva  )

Thank you, everyone, for keeping Lacy in your thoughts and prayers and for the tons of Pixie Dust that has headed my way since she got sick.. boy that is some potent stuff and it really works!

:D :D :D

Awwww that Lacy is sure a real trooper! I laughed at your disclaimer.....but as all us nurses can tell you.....we could read that and eat without a problem! lol

I will be thinking of her......She will be an even happier girl once this is done with......I am so happy that Lacy will be here to love and adore....and SPOIL! ;)

I think we need to start an official Lacy cheerleading team!
Yay! Rah! go Lacy, Go! :bounce: Atttttta Girl, Lacy!!!

I'm tellin ya, it's the prayers that are doing it. Prayer moves mountains. :D We DIS folk are a prayerful (is that even a word?) bunch when crises arise!

I totally agree with Amy. It is the prayers. I had to read the whole thing. I just had to.
God is taking good care of Lacy right now. Just keep giving her lots of love and hugs.
Whoops the pooch in the picture says Hi Lacy I am a guy

a trip to work and a burger too...what a cool day for Lacy...I know what you mean about the other pups smelling her breath and being ticked off...hehehe.
So glad she'll be able to keep the eye even though it isn't working...she'll do fine with just one functioning...so glad she's better!

I know it sounds painful, but it really will help her be more comfortable.

She might also have a little trouble with depth perception for a while. Don't be surprised if she bumps into things and has trouble on the stairs.

I'm still praying.

She will do fine, I am sure. My vet has a dog she took in - lost the sight in both eyes. Because of the pain they removed them. She is a little strange looking with her lids sewn shut but the sweetest dog. It is really cute how the other dogs in her family look out for her.

My Reggis actually prefers the Nugget Happy meal fom McDonald's - with a vanilla shake of course.

Hi, everyone!

Just wanted to give y'all an update on Lacy.

She got to ride to work with Lauri and spent a little time following her around the store (without a leash, even ... good girl!!) until I picked her up and dropped her off at the vet for the procedure.

She still seems a little doped up but she's doing fine. Her eye is a creepy blood red that's upsetting the heck out of Lauri. :( She did rub her eye with her paw a couple of times earlier today but it doesn't seem to be bothering her very much now. Of course, the drugs may not have worn off yet.

She has to go back in two weeks for a follow up exam, and hopefully this will be the end of her crisis.

Thanks again to everyone for all the thoughts, prayers, and pixie dust. This just goes to show what a great group we have on this board. :D
