I'm a local with two small ones... I was thinking of going on tuesday... I'm assuming most will be back home with kids in school, so i'm hoping that it will be crowd free...

anyone have a guess about attendance level?

Is the Winnie the pooh ride in DL like DW?

I've heard about alot of rides being down for maintenance over the summer... is there somewhere i can go to see what is closed?

Hello,
I am a AP holder so we go a lot - I have never been on the Tuesday after Labor Day but I would imagine that it would be much less crowded than during the holiday weekend (which area always PACKED). It could very well be a good day to go - check the park hours online so you know ahead of time what they are and can plan accordingly. Disney.com has a link to all the parks and when you click on Disneyland you can get a link to the hours that day and the refurb schedule.
I am not sure what you are meaning by a lot of major attractions closed during the summer - the only one I have been aware of is Space Mountain which is closed until 2005 as it is undergoing a MAJOR refurb so it wasn't closed for refurb over the summer - it will be closed for 2 years! But that being said I have not been much this summer so maybe there are other things closed that I am unaware of.
The Pooh ride is very similiar to the one at WDW but the cars are different and don't have some of the "jumping" effects that the ones at WDW do - the theming otherwise is quite similar.
Have a great time if you go and take some water along - it will be warm!
:)
