I am hoping to make my first trip to Universal this September. I can go either Labor Day Weekend or the Weekend of Rock the Universe. Which weekend do you think will be the least crowded? Would it be worthwhile to stay onsight even if I am traveling solo? I was hoping to save some money by staying off site but if the parks are going to be crowded, I think I will need FOTL.

We've gone to RTU for the past four or five years. Last year we went to the park on Saturday and it was your typical Saturday crowd. Labor Day weekend would be much more crowded. However if you are not planning on going to RTU, you might want to check the park times. They start sweeping the park of non RTU guests fairly early. I'm sure the park is open later on Labor Day. If you aren't doing RTU and are wanting to hit both parks. Save USF for Saturday as most RTU people will go to IOA on Saturday since the night RTU events are all at USF. I will have to say the past 2 years the RTU crowds have been getting much larger. Last year on Saturday night I had my moments of thinking the crowd was too big for my tastes. But during the day I would think Labor Day weekend would be the worst of the two.

Labor Day will be busier, but the park will have longer hours. RTU weekends aren't *that* busy until around 4pm. Then they really pick up. Last years RTU on Saturday generated long waits all over the place!
