Labor Day Weekend like Columbus Day Weekend?

I've been to WDW a number of times over the last few years, but thanks to a convention, I'll be making my first trip to DLR on Columbus Day Weekend.

Thanks to the vast compendium of information here, I've learned that weekends (and holiday weekends in particular) are the times with the largest crowds. Watching the wait times at DLR today on the app, things look entirely manageable compared to a busy day at Magic Kingdom, for instance.

So I'm wondering if Columbus Day weekend is going to be similar, just so I have an idea of what to expect.

And since I've made this thread, I thought I'd ask about shows. We love the Nemo and Lion King shows at Animal Kingdom, and the Beauty and the Beast show at Hollywood Studios. I know we absolutely CANNOT miss the Alladin show, but are there any other similar shows that are a must-see at the DLR parks?

Thank you all for having this delightful corner of The DIS for us to peruse and help learn how to better approach the California Parks! :-)

having spent some time in NYC and that surrounding area for three years. the west coast does not celebrate Columbus day like the east coast. State, school and city do not close down for the holiday. It is only a federal holiday. However !!! because there is no draw to pull folks out of the LA metro area city to explore fall color, pumpkin patches, and I mean New England patches not the local farms on the west coast that decor with just a few hay bales and stalks, romantic Inns, city festivals, the federal families may very well flock to Disneyland

We've been numerous times over Colimnus Day weekend. Halloween Time at DLR has become increasingly popular over the past decade. After our trip last year we decided to try a different time of year in search of lower crowds. It will be busy but not at capacity. Just be aware of the MHP nights, if there's one during the day(s) you plan to attend then DCA will get very busy that night. As purple figment stated, Sunday will be busy due to CHOC walk and Monday will be very busy. It's not a big holiday but there are several area schools that go on break, there's a thread listing such dates in this forum. Columbus Day was our last day in the parks last year and all the bigger rides were 45-60+ minute waits.

Labor Day is one of the busiest days of the year at the park but the good news is the day after LD is one of the slowest!

I'm there that same time. Leaving in the evening on Tuesday. Let's hope for "low" crowds on Tuesday then!
