Labor Day Weekend Crowds and EP?

We'll be visiting Thursday August 31st until Sunday September 3rd, which is Labor Day weekend. Are EPs a must this weekend? We'd like to save money and stay at Sapphire Falls, but if the consensus is that EPs are a must, then I'll move to RPR. Thanks!

I visited US from September 3-11 last year. I stayed at Cabana Bay so no express passes. We did not attend the parks on Saturday (3rd) but we did go on the Sunday-Monday (Labour Day) and didn't think it was too busy at all. We didn't stand in line more than 20 minutes.

EDIT: I suppose I should add, we did use single rider when available so the main lines may have longer.

Labor Day period is the one holiday period that can still be manageable

Some school districts in the North return to school mid August

I went one year and Saturday had some crowds but that was it

Don't remember the posts about Labor Day weekend period for 2016.....

Maybe do a search for it and see if any scary posts on crowds come up

Pick this past years Labour Day Weekend and then click on the parks (UO and IOA) to have a look at the historical wait times per park and per ride.

Having a quick glance myself, It looks like Saturday was the busiest, then Sunday a bit slower, then Monday looked quite nice for low wait times.
