Labor Day 2015, DL or DCA?

We are doing a quick 1-day stop on our way to San Diego for a Wedding. We will be visiting Disneyland on Friday the 4th and are trying to decide on DL or DCA.

We will have our DS4, DD6 with us along with (4) adults, 26-30yrs old.

I know the 5k Race will be happening on friday, but how busy will it get on that friday? Are we looking at crowds similar to the week before Christmas (We went to the resorts 4 days before Christmas this past year, and didnt think it was to busy).

I'm just trying to gauge what my expectations should be regarding crowd levels.

Any thoughts on which park we should pick over another? We love both parks, but only have enough time for one park only :-(.

We will be arriving at LAX at like 655am, and driving straight to Disneyland BTW.

For my family and friends, we would pick DL. There seems to be a wider variety of attractions for the family and plenty to do to fill up an entire day. Also, DL is open later (midnight) and you have the option of seeing Disneyland Forever (fireworks), PtN (parade), or F! (show).

I suspect it will be pretty busy, haven't been at that time of year yet, but we are going this year. We just bought AP's, so we have to sit out the Sat. / Sun. of Labor Day weekend, but we will be there for Friday and Monday.

I would suggest Disneyland rather than DCA. The longer operating hours / longer FP availability and night time entertainment would be better, with two runs of the new parade.

If you get there and find DL too crowded or hectic around the parades, I believe you can upgrade to a Park Hopper. Am I correct?

I keep checking the brand new DL app that they released, watching wait times and crowd patterns for our upcoming visit. I can't wait til we are using it on site!
