I want to treat my family to something special when we go to WDW this November. I can't decide between a nice dinner at DTD and La Nouba or a day at Discovery Cove. There are 5 of us: kids will be 11, 9, and 6, and DH and myself.

Any opinions? We haven't done either, which is why I can't make up my mind!:rotfl:

Discovery Cove is amazing especially if you love dolphins, but there is birds, rays and sharks to see too. We did this on our honeymoon in 2004 and have lasting memories there. This trip we our doing La nouba. We saw cirque du solei this year in London performing Quidam which was amazing so hoping La nouba will be as good.

There are 4 of us. Me DH DD9 and DD4.

We all did La nouba and the girls absolutely loved it (we did too). They sat still even the four year old for all of it,

My DH and DD9 did the trainer for a day at Discovery Cove. My DH said it was expensive but he would do it again. There was good interaction with the dolphins twice, they loved the snorkeling etc. He did say that paying extra for photo's, dvd's and photo CD was too much really but he just had to get them!!:rolleyes1

DD9 says discovery cove was best!! DD4 and I didn't go as DD4 was too small/young to do the dolphin interaction.

Hope this helps!!!!!!! Have a great trip

I wish I could afford to do both! DD is a gymnast and would love La Nouba, DS6 has been talking about swimming with dolphins since he was 4! I really can't make up my mind.

I haven't got to do Discovery Cove but my wife and I went to Cirque in 2007 and it was incredible. I noticed a lot of kids their and they all seemed to be enjoying it was well. It has a good mix of humor and incredible tricks. We had told them it was our anniversary when we bought the tickets and then I think they saw our anniversary buttons when we came in because a few minutes after we sat in our seats, one of the staff brought us two glasses of champagne and red noses in little jewelry boxes. It was a great experience.

My sister just took her eight year old twins there. Her son did fine, but her daughter had a hard time holding onto the dolphins. My parents who were with them suggested we wait until my kids were 8-10 to go.

I will be honest, I haven't been to either one.

From a kids point of view, I would say Discovery Cove.

From a parents point of view....I believe you are from Philly. You are close enough to Manhattan to plan a dinner or lunch and a show and have a great day out (or stay overnight!) and get the same type experience.

We have a DS7 and DS9 and if it were my decision, I would go with Discovery Cove.

I am sure you will have a great time with what ever you choose. Enjoy your time together.

We went to Discovery Cove as a family a few summers ago and it was one of the best vacations days we have EVER had!! We have done Disney every other year and a cruise and we think a day at DC is so much fun for the entire family!! When looking at cost you need to factor in that admission includes your day at DC all inclusive plus several days at Sea World (which we also love) or Busch Gardens. When you factor in those park days the value is a much better deal.

I also like La Nouba but would pick DC for the whole family!

We've been to both and they were both brill but if I had to choose one it would be discover cove. For our family it was something completely different that we weren't able to do at home.

Point well taken! I don't have to go to Florida to have a wonderful dinner and see a spectacular show. Opportunities abound in this region. But we can't swim with dolphins up here! I think we are going to book Discovery Cove...and there's a special now for $50 off per person with advanced booking. Thanks everyone for your insight.

I've only been to LaNouba...and my family loved it.

But here is how I see your problem...

LaNouba is a show which is fun to experience.
Discovery Cove would be AN actual experience for each individual.
