Anyone been here recently?

Food?
Service?

I have an ADR in December for the day we get there. Any thoughts?

Good food. Great margaritas. Glacial service (cold and slow-moving)

Can you see Illuminations from here? I was trying to help a young couple at church get a nice dinner while viewing Illuminations and Rose And Crown was booked, so I snagged one here. But I do not know if you can see Illuminations as well. Thanks to anyone who can help :goodvibes

yes, you can see Illuminations from some of the tables, but you can't be guaranteed to get one. So if that is the sole reason for selecting the restaurant, I usually caution against it.

We've been to La Hacienda twice now (Sept 2010 & May 2011). We really like it! We have not been here during Illuminations though. The menu is small and the margaritas are superb! Although if you just want a margarita, go to La Cava inside the pavilion. My favorite is the shrimp tacos. Here are some pics:

Thanks y'all. Do they let people get up during dinner and stand at a rail or something during the Illuminations? I only ask this because a t R&C the people from inside usually come out and stand on the screened porch and view with those seated on the porch. We have had 3 dinners at R&C and have enjoyed it so. But like you said, Nala, if this is a "deal-breaker" we should think of something else. Thanks for responding:goodvibes.

No, they don't have a viewing area like R&C does. Some say you can stand in the main dining room if they don't seat you in there but that is not optimal.

Thanks for your help. I will have to think on this......or hope for an opening at R&C :goodvibes

I'm not in love with this restaurant. It wasn't bad. But it wasn't very good, either. Service was excellent, but the place can be on the loud side and the food was a little meh.

We enjoyed this rest. They have a more limited menu but everything was very good. We have gone two times. The tables are a bit close, rooms can be loud, but I like the decor. We were able to watch the fireworks from our table but it is not as good a veiw as from outside. I agree with a prev post that it was pretty chilly and a somewhat slow service but I prefer that than some of the locations where you are rushed or yur entree is at the table before you even finish the app.

We are looking forward to trying La Hacienda next month. We have a 7:30pm ressie. Would not mind being there to see Illuminations, but that isn't our main reason for booking. We are there on the only evening EMH night, so we are going to have a relaxing dinner then meander through WS, do some shopping and make our way to FW for the night. Also, we LOVE mexican food, but were never impressed with San Angel Inn, so we're looking forward to seeing what La Hacienda has to offer. :thumbsup2
