La Hacienda

San Angel Inn and Hacienda de San Angel will be run by the same company, so they're not technically competing with each other, but Hacienda looks to be quite popular. I did read somewhere that they don't plan to serve Tex-Mex style though.

Hacienda reservations open on September 16 for dates after October 15.

Why would Disney put in a second Mexican sit down restaurant, when the American pavillion only has a counter service? Linda :)

Because Disney doesn't put them in ... unless someone (some restaurant group usually) is paying the bill for construction, maintenance and staff ... to Disney's specifications.

I would think because there are millions of other "American" restaurants in and around Disney and the USA.

Unless you live in a large city, your option of world wide cusine could be limited. Outside of the Mexican pavillion has always been a hot spot for Illuminations. Without adding a new country, this was a good opportunity for them to add TS and sought after views of the show.

has there been an opening date set for this place yet?

They put Napoli up so quickly and it feels like Hacienda is taking for ev er!

Soft opening around 15 sept. Walk ups only from then until 15 oct

The American pavillion( restaurant) is a disgrace. The food is gross. Disney needs to bring in decent food and make us proud of our pavillion.

I dont get it why would the American pavillion need a TS? Outside of the handful of Epcot restaurants and a few at AK most of the restaurants are American.. I know when we are on vacation we want something different than what we can get at home..

I hope to be able to swing by and have lunch at either the CS or maybe even the TS on our last few days since its rumored to have a soft opening Sept 15th..

I was really hoping to get an ADR for our trip in October but as it is we will only have to take a chance on getting a walk up. :goodvibes

By the sounds of the menu items mentioned it will be interesting to see if the quality at the CS area has improved.

This seems to be true...Disney hasn't built any new restaurants lately it intends to run itself, other than Sanaa. Kouzzina was a rework of an existing restaurant. All interest in the direction of Disney-run restaurants appears to be going into the two Beauty and the Beast themed restaurants scheduled to be built in MK as part of the Fantasyland expansion.

if Disney thinks it would be advantageous to have a TS in the America pavilion, and they find someone willing to sign a contract to finance it and operate it, they might do it.

Even if La Hacienda ends up having terrible food, people will book it every night if it has Illuminations views as rumored.
