I was looking at the menu for La Hacienda and was very disappointed to see no vegetarian entrees on the menu! Is that really correct?

That is correct but they will accommodate with any dietary needed request. Your server will ask specifically if you have any dietary needs or wants.

Entrees are fish, beef or chicken, but you can always request vegetarian (just ask for no meat and wrap the veggies in a tortilla). Also, the delicious black bean soup can be an entree, or the house salad with spinach, pomegranate, pine nuts and avocado — yum.

Now, whether this is sufficient or not, I'm not a vegetarian, but I'd think not. It's basically just saying "Hold the meat".

From the link Cafeen provided (thanks!), it looks like lots of people are annoyed by the lack of a vegetarian entree on the menu. I have a reservation for October, but I'll cancel it if the best they can do is put some veggies in a tortilla.

I was just about to ask about a veg menu. Looks like we may cancel our ressie. Seriously "hold the meat" just doesn't cut it. I wonder what the price would be for the flank steak "hold the meat".

Hi
It's a shame that a new restaurant couldn't come up with a good veggie meal, since there are so many of us that don't eat any meat. I wish they would have choices on the menu. Whenever I have to ask for something without the meat, it always takes so long to get my food.

Thank you, I cant find the other older thread that mentioned different things on different days. Glad to hear my favourites are always there everyday !

The whole thing is kind of confounding considering that Mexican restaurants tend to have lots of choices for vegetarian diners. Heck, even the Canadian steakhouse offers a vegetarian option.

Regarding the "hold the meat" strategy, which of these entrees would still BE an entree if you "hold the meat"?

Arrachera - flank steak with spring onions, tamal, cactus leaves, and beans $25.95

Puerco en Salsa de Mole Negro - roasted pork tender loin with mole negro sauce, served with esquites (roasted corn), sweet potato mash, beans, and vegetables $25.95

Tacos de Camarones - fried shrimp, chipolte-lime aoli, cabbage, lime and salsa verde, all served over flour tortillas $22.95

Pollos al Pastor - Achiote marinated chicken served with roasted vegetables, beans, and pineapple relish $23.95

Pescado a la Talla - grilled tilapia served with esquites (roasted corn), nopales (cactus leaves) and mango chutney $23.95

Granted - they may be able to come up with something fantastic if you ask. Just not sure if I want to risk one of my ADRs on "maybe". :confused3

Would the price be altered if you 'hold the meat' and end up with cactus leaves and beans? :rolleyes1

I just posted my review of La Hacienda, and while I'm a pescetarian, so I will eat fish, I was dissapointed by the lack of a vegetarian option. Someone replied that there was in fact a seperate vegetarian menu with four vegetarian options, I'm trying to find it online somewhere, when I do, I'll be sure to post it.

I know there is a separate vegetarian menu for San Angel Inn... just noting that in case you can't find anything. It's possible they got mixed up with the names.

HI,
I am a vegetarian as well and just asked the
server for a special meal. They accommodate
with no problem.
By the way, you may want to take fruit snacks
or protein bars with you in your travels because
sometimes it can be hard to find food for
vegetarians.
