We will be trying La Hacienda in Mexico for the first time this September and was wondering what the best choices on the menu would be. I should add that I have a very non-adventurous eater in the group and was hoping that they would be accommodating in trying to get her something, shall we say, less exotic from the menu. How are they there at handling special orders, and can you as an adult order something from the kids menu if you are on the dining plan? I figure it doesn't matter because they'll make money on us anyway.

I asked that in another thread...glad you started this. Also looking for recommendations on good food, not Tex-Mex , but not too spicy either.

Agreed. I can get Tex Mex at home, and my wife's idea of spicy is Doritos.

Someone must have eaten there recently. If not, that's not a good sign :thumbsup2

We had a great meal there over spring break. I thoroughly enjoyed the taco plate, as did my DD. I did not find it particularly spicy. And the nieves for dessert was worth going back a second time on the trip - watermelon sorbet was the bomb.

They are not Disney owned and are very strict with their dining plan, so I wouldn't count on ordering from the kid's menu. I've never requested something more bland, but I'm sure they can accommodate. I do highly recommend both of their platters that serve two. They're big and the meats are very good. I personally prefer the seafood platter, but both are a great choice.

I've had La Hacienda, and the Costillas en salsa de Chile, both very good.

We ate there a few weeks ago. I had the corn soup which was delicious, but had a very spicy end note which I wasn't expecting. For my main, I had the carnitas, another great dish. Hubby had the taco sampler which he said was 'pretty good.' We were very disappointed with our rude server, however. I would definitely eat here again. The avocado margarita was outstanding!

The Avocado Margarita is one of my fave drinks at WDW. It can also be purchased at La Cava in the Mexico Pavilion if you aren't dining at La Hacienda.

Just ate there on Tuesday for the first time. We did not like the queso fundido at all, too thick to enjoy. We later heard another waiter warning their customers when they went to order it and if we were warned we wouldn't have ordered it. I completely forgot to order the soup, but this is one of the few i'll repeat! My son said the taco sampler was just ok, I took a bit of his fish taco and thought it was very good. The avocado margarita was amazing! My husband and I shared the La Hacienda and it was worth it! The little chorizo sausages were delicious and not too spicy (husband is a wimp when it comes to that). The chicken was actually moist and the steak was tender and flavorful! I highly recommend it!

Parrillades La Hacienda and Del Mar are must do for us. The meats are very good, but have distinct Mexican flavor. The seafood is very mild. They are accompanied by grilled veggies, beans and rice. My picky friend got tacos from the appetizer menu and was happy. I think you will be safe there.

Sorry to hijack, but to those of you that have ordered the entrees for 2, if on the dining plan, are you still using 1 credit per person for this?

OP, as far as accommodating picky eaters, most restaurants I have found to be very good about helping with this. If on the dining plan, they may not let you order from the kids' menu, but if paying OOP they may.

Yes it is one credit per person on the for two entrees. They are definitely big enough for two though and you each still get to select your own separate dessert.

We had the Parrillades La Hacienda a couple of years ago and liked it very much. So, we went back last September and ordered the same, and it was awful. Cold food, harried and non-existent server, and the dessert tasted stale and like something from the freezer section of the grocery store. All in all an unpleasant experience. Not going back when there are so many other good choices in Epcot.

In November We share the meat parilla sooooooooooo good! We bring the chicken to make our breakfast because portions are huge. All were good, the steak and chorizo are the stars of the Plate. Our server Was perfect, he teach me how to make paradise flower napkins. We had Window view for illuminations. It Was the highlight of our trip!

At Window table â family Was not happy because their entree Was not ready In 20 minutes because all is fresh made. They Was rude with the server and quit not happy. I think if you have â good mood and want to relax and take your Time you Will enjoy your meal.

We have reservations here our first night. There are three of us. My father in law and my fifteen year old daughter. All three of us with average appetites. Has anyone ever shared the two person meal with three people? Portions are so large that I hate to waste food!

We enjoyed it and we are not really into Mexican food at all. I got some Chicken dish with beans and rice. It was good. I forget what DH got, I'd imagine steak of some sort. So there definitely are things that the less adventurous diners can enjoy. We also were able to move to a window table for illuminations and it was great. Our waitress was stand offish at first but then warmed to us and even suggested we move tables so we'd have a better view.
