La Hacienda or San Angel Inn?

We recently did La Hacienda during our trip over 2/18-2/22. We had ressies at both La Hacienda and San Angel. When my son went inside to check the menu, he discovered some of the favorites on the San Angel menu were gone. So we took a chance on La Hacienda.

Boy, are we glad we did. Fresh chips and salsa (the salsa verde is outstanding). Delicious queso with great fresh tortillas. DH and I split the grill with the various meats, DS#1 got the shrimp tacos, DS#2 had the kids soft tacos.

Fresh, hot, deliciously seasoned, with a spicy, smoky flavor. Some have reported that it was very smoky, but they must not be familiar with chipotle peppers and the smoky flavor of them. There were many things with a great bite to them. Delicious desserts too.

We loved it so much, we booked it again for our return trip over the summer. I think it's definitely a keeper.

I agree entirely. We've been to San Angel, but we tried La Hacienda last month - great decision. The interior of the restaurant and the views are wonderful. My husband (and both of his parents) are Mexican so we cook and eat quite a bit of Mexican food - and we thought La Hacienda was significantly better than San Angel.

So nice to hear the reviews of La Hacienda. We are giving it a try later this month. My husband loves Mexican, but I was concerned if it would meet his standards. Hearing that a Mexican family has high regards for this place gives me alot of comfort.

I have an ADR at San Angel and the menu looks very limited...maybe I should think about La Hacienda. Hmmmm....:confused3

The atmosphere at the San Angel is really nice and unique, but the food was much better at La Hacienda. We actually ate late one night and got to see Illuminations while we ate! So fun!

We have done San Angel several times in the past - and the food was ok and the atmoshere great. Loved overlooking the volcano and the darkness - it really felt like we were outside at a cafe. We booked LaHacienda for our upcoming trip in June and I cant wait - been hearing lots of great reports that the food is terrific.

Where is La Hacienda? Did it take over the CS in Mexico? We ate at San Angel last year and really liked it, but maybe we should try the other on our upcoming trip.

Can you see Illuminations from every seat? Or should I request a window seat?

I can't compare the 2 because we haven't had a chance to eat at La Hacienda yet but San Angel Inn was so good a few weeks ago my DS asked to eat there a second time during our trip.

WDW must have made some recent improvements to San Angel Inn. The food was excellent, very fresh. Even the chips are now homemade, not the prepackaged kind.

We were a walk up so we didn't get to pick our seats, we actually were seated in the middle of the room and we were able to see pretty well. If you have a window seat I am sure it would be amazing though!
