La Hacienda or San Angel Inn for dinner?

We have an ADR for dinner at La Hacienda during our upcoming trip. I wanted to check out the new restaurant and, with a 6:45 ADR, I was hoping that we would be able to watch Illuminations while we finish out dinner. (We are a party of 9 so I was thinking that dinner might take a while.)

My DH just told me that he would like to go back to San Angel Inn. We have had lunch there during our last several trips. The service is slow, but we like the food. The atmosphere is our favorite part of the experience. It is what we will miss most if we don't go back this trip.

Given our touring plan and other ADRs, I would have to swap one for the other. So....for those who have experienced both for dinner, what should I do?

I much prefer La Hacienda over San Angel Inn. The food IMHO is far superior! We ate there in November & it was my favorite meal of the trip! Maybe you could eat at San Angel for lunch and La Haceinda for dinner. The atmosphere of San Angel can't be beat. Watching Illuminations from La hacienda view would be wonderful! Have a great trip!
