La Hacienda & Bistro de Paris

We're not doing DDP this trip so I would like to try Bistro de Paris since we have never tried it on prior DDP trips. Is it worth it and is it kid friendly? I don't think I've seen many reviews of this restaurant.

How is La Hacienda? What is the atmosphere like? I've looked at the menu and it doesn't appear very large.

Although you can apparently ask for a children's menu from Le Chefs, I cannot recommend Bistro de Paris as a kid-friendly restaurant.

There typically are not any large menus with many choices at WDW restaurants, especially those that accept the dining plan.

I probably should have given more background info. I've tried Chefs twice before and have been very unimpressed each time. I am from a city known for it's food and French inspired food in particular, so Chefs was just plain disappointing. I was hoping that Bistro might be of higher quality.

I have two kids, 7 and 10, but they have a fairly wide variety of foods that they enjoy. They are not stereotypical chicken nugget and mac eaters. In fact, one of our problems with many disney restaurants is the lack of decent or interesting kids meals. I'm not looking for Bistro to serve a full fledged bland kids menu, but more if the atmosphere would be appropriate for kids and if we could find suitable items for kids on the menu.

Bistro is not kid-friendly. You'll notice very few children there because of the lack of a child's menu. It also tends to be a very long meal, which may be a problem for many children.

Food-wise, this is a very good restaurant. Perhaps the best in Epcot. Check out the reviews and the menu here

If the kids can tolerate a two hour meal without driving the other Guests crazy I would suggest going to Bistro. It is probably the second best restaurant on all of WDW (after V&A, of course) for both food and service. Since your kids tend to not go for "children's food" you might have them share an entree or use appetizers as their main course.

And Bistro is not on a Dining Plan, but they do accept the TiW Discount Card.

Bistro will allow orders off the menu.I seen it done.We have seen a few 3 and up kids there,no toddlers.

My boyfriend and I recently ate at Hacienda - we both really enjoyed it! There were a bunch of tables with kids around (it was around 6pm or so) - I'm not sure what the kids menu looks like. The menu doesn't have a huge extensive amount of options, but we were both more than satisfied (we shared the platter for 2). Great atmosphere too, very well-themed.

For Bistro, we took 2 kids (4 and 2) and it went fine. We went to the earliest seating available (I think 6:00) and the place was 2/3 empty. One other table had kids at it, too. There is no kid's menu, but they will bring stuff up from downstairs (crayons, menus, etc). We expected our kids to have to eat off the main menu, but the waiter brought up the stuff from downstairs without us asking. If your kids are reasonably behaved and can handle the time, I'd say go for it. The atmosphere and food is outstanding.

We ate at Hacienda in October and it was great. It's more traditional higher-end Mexican. We had 'The Sea' for 2, and it was outstanding.

We ate at Bistro in October. The meal and service were great - we were there for about 2.5 hours and in that time I think I saw one child (probably around age 11 or 12) in the entire dining room. IMHO, it's more of an adult experience.

I've eaten at Bistro at least a half dozen times. In all of those visits, I have seen one child, around the age of 8. She looked so bored. It's a long meal.

My neighbors went in Nov and took their 3 kids there. She said that they do have a kids menu...and there were other children in the restaurant besides their 3. I believe the kids menu is the one from Chefs de France. I was surprised because I didn't think Bistro had a kids menu.
