I'm beginning to scout for airfare for our next trip, and looking 5 months out I'm seeing Delta offering a $153 RT direct flight to MCO in August. We're not going until Feb. of 2004, but can I expect to see similar prices for the same flight in Feb., or is this a fluke? Fares from North East PA and PHL are grouped around the $223 - $245 range, so with 7 of us going, it would be worth driving to LGA (maybe!). Any suggestions?

Actually I am finding it a fluke that Laguardia has been cheaper than Kennedy. In the last two trips we took I checked airfare compulsively and ALWAYS found JFK to be quite a bit cheaper than LaGuardia. Never could figure out why especially since I PREFER Kennedy. Anyway - I have been looking compulsively again for our August trip and LaGuardia has been consistently 40 - 50 less than Kennedy!!! Kennedy has been 200 - 240 and LaGuardia I have consistently seeing 153 through 169.

And to confuse myself and you even more I wound up booking on Delta Song out of Kennedy for 155 per person nonstop....when I saw it I had to jump on it. So have you considered SOng at Kennedy???

Either way 155 at either airport nonstop is a good deal...good luck!

hi....i just booked spirit airlines out of lga to mco for$150 dollars R.t. This is for the second week in september.I heard a lot of good things about spirit and you cant beat the price. You may want to check it out!......Good Luck... :smooth:

vellamint,

Thanks for your input. I've been watching Song since they started flying and hope that when they get up to full capacity in Oct. that they'll be flying out of one of the local airports closer to home. So far they're only going out of Boston, NY and PHL. I'll be looking to buy sometime in Oct. as it seems that prices hit their low about 4 - 6 months out.

disneydiva58,
Thanks, I'll keep my eye on Spirit, too.

Bill....

Now I am jealous.....if you get Song in October their entertainment systems will be installed!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sure wish they were when we are going in August but I DID read in their News area at the website that they will be lending out Gameboy Advances on the plane LOL!!!

And lets not forget the live entertainment we will be receiving in the airport!!! This should be interesting!! Anyway....I hope you find what you are looking for at the price you want.

Hi there -

If you're willing to travel to JFK you can get a JetBlue flight (non-stop) for probably $130-$150 round trip. We always fly them and find their service to be superior, the planes immaculate, on-time flights, courteous employees, free direct TV, roomy leather seats...I could go on and on :)

Just my 2 cents worth :)

When checking NYC airports use the mix and match method, going into and out of different airports. You can sometimes find some real good prices this way.
Bill from PA If Delta is not currently flying out of your local airport , don't expect to see SONG flying from there. SONG will be using Delta pilots, ground crew, etc, and with the state of the airline business I would be surprised to see them open up a new location.

We discovered LGA about 4 years ago, and have been flying out of there ever since. The times and dates we need to fly are consistantly cheaper out of LGA than Newark, usually by about $50.

From Bergen County, the mileage is about the same to Newark or LGA, only the tolls are a little higher into NYC, but worth it for the cheaper fares!

Many complain that their flights take off/land late from LGA, but we have been happy with our flights, and haven't experienced any delays as of yet. We pick morning flights coming and going. Depending on how inconvenient LGA is from where you are, I would definitely consider it as an option!

Hi
I thought I'd offer my input because I'm coming from your neck of the woods,
I offered the same suggestion to my bf about flying out of LaGuardia. He is from Jersey. I told him we could fly Spirit for about $150 rt.
He said that between tolls and parking we'd be spending more anyway...which is probably true. Besides the ordeal of driving into the city and traffic. We have decided to find a flight out of Phila or Newark....just because it is easier. BTW, Phila is the cheaper of the 2.
However, it is only the 2 of us...depending on how many airline tickets you are paying for you may be better going thru Laguardia.
