We really wanted to try La Cantina at Epcot. Since we have a late Table Service Lunch, we were planning to eat there at around 7:30pm before Illuminations (9pm).

I've recently read it's a popular spot for Illuminations. Is that just for the TS? I don't want to eat there if it will be really crowded! We have two preschoolers. What are your thoughts on how crowded it will be?

If your thoughts are it is really crowded, any other suggestions for QS at that time with two kids?

TIA!!!!

It is actually one of the most popular restaurants for watching Illuminations since it is a QS and doesn't require an ADR. In my experience if you wait to get there until 7:30 you will likely not be able to find a table. Since it is QS and has alcohol people tend to find a spot for watching Illuminations very early and then snack and drink until it starts.

My husband and I watched Illuminations from La Cantina this summer. I can't remember what time we snagged a table, but it was pretty early. We snacked on nachos and margaritas to pass the time. Note that the tables and chairs are attached to the ground, so you can't move anything around if a table does open up. It did get crowded, especially when groups of people rolled in around 8:30 and hovered to see if anyone was moving from their table and then grumbled when no one did.

It was a really fun experience, but we also have 3 young kids (they did not go with us on this past trip), and I don't know that I would have picked that as our spot to watch, but I tend to get overly anxious. LOL.

Thanks! Since we are going over Easter when it is busy anyway looks like I will be finding a different place to eat QS at Epcot! But I will definitely miss what looks to be tasty margaritas
=(

Oh, no, no, no. You need to go INSIDE and get margaritas at La Cava (tequila bar)!! They are so good. There is a small seating area but you can also get margaritas to go from the bar. There is also an outdoor tequila bar that has a smaller selection of margaritas and, I believe, a few tapas sized items.

No way -- get one to go! Sip and wander until you find somewhere that looks good for dinner! :)
