Hi all,

I know there are mixed feelings on here about the Kyriad, but we WILL be staying here for one night before moving to the Santa Fe for 4 nights. We added an extra night at the start of our trip to allow DD a 'proper' night's sleep before the madness of the parks.

My question is regarding the breakfasts. We've stayed in the Dream Castle before and thought the breakfasts were quite good - a few hot items with all the regular stuff. Obviously better than Santa Fe's! But TripAdvisor's reviews of the Kyriad's breakfast doesn't look great (but I know that people are more likely to review a negative experience than a positive!!) - hot items still but not great quality.

I had booked a 'Free Cancellation' offer on ebookers.com costing us £74 ish in total for the one night with breakfast (2 adults, one child). I took that offer in case something better came along. Expedia are now offering the same night for £45, pay now, with no breakfast. That's quite a big difference! Now, I'm not a massive breakfast eater, so I'm thinking we'll change the booking. DD can have a porridge pot in the room or something, and DH.....well, he can either go without, have something snacky, or pick up breakfast somewhere else - I know McDonalads is open for breakfast but I've heard people on here mention that they can run out! EoS has breakfast items but doesn't open until 10am? :confused3 And of course Annettes.....again opening from 10am? :confused3 We're planning on having lunch at Annettes anyway, and could easily go at 11.30am after a few hours in one of the parks.....

I think I've convinced myself to change the booking, :rotfl: but I just wanted to bounce it off you experts.

What do you think?

Hi, I'm not sure about the negatives on this hotel, (I tend not to read them) but we've always had a positive experience staying there and would have no hesitation in staying again. It's a clean, basic but nice hotel (could do with updating I guess). Did you know you can pay for breakfast on the day (in case you change your mind).? Think it was something along the lines of 7-8 Euros, kids free, this was however a few years ago. Enjoy your break.

Hi MummyMinnie - that's very interesting to know, thank you! Have you had breakfast there? What did you think? What hot items did they have?

Hi yes every time but funnily enough I don't remember any hot items I'll have to ask hubby when home. Wonder if it's a case of you pay extra that's why I didn't notice. What we had is basically what's in the other hotels, a continental breakfast with the usual rolls, cold meats, fruit salad (think was chopped up from memory). Hot and cold drinks. All canteen style but I think better than the Santa Fe. For us it's just a base with clean comfy room and not so bad breakfast we're hardly there normally as in the parks a lot.
Our favourite has to be Explorers though purely because they have the pool (for when we stay longer) and their takeaway pizzas!

Maybe you could email and find out if they still add on breakfast and what is included?

I've just booked it for our first and last nights there (to maximise our 4 day park tickets). £100.80 for 2 family rooms. It'll be fine! I'm planning salon mickey for breakfast on first morning!

If you could ask your hubby what he can remember, that would be great, because if there's no hot items, it's possibly not worth it - it was our aim with a week of continental at the Santa Fe that we'd have a nice hot breakfast to start the week. We loved the Dream Castle, and would go back at the drop of a hat, but for one night, at this good a price at the Kyriad, it's a no brainer!

Wish we could use Salon Mickey but we haven't got shares! lol Just annual passes!

I stayed at the Kyriad a couple of times and really liked the hotel but it was several years ago.
I had breakfast there once and remember some hot items but can't remember what there was as its so long ago but seem to remember it wasn't a large area.

Is your intention to check into Santa Fe early the next morning ready for EMH?

If so you could do an hour or so of the rides and then go and grab something in the park - we often used to go to Cable car bake shop or the market house deli (I think thats its name) for a croissant or pain or chocolate to put us on.

Your other option would be to check out how much it is to have breakfast at New York as I think its much cheaper there than DLH is now and the options are almost the same

The plan is to sleep as late as necessary without waking DD! lol No EMH planned that day. We have Dream passes too, just for info. Then probably drive to the Santa Fe. We'll then EITHER just park there, go to the park, and head back after lunch to meet with my parents who are joining us and checking in to the Santa Fe then, and we'll check in at the same time. OR check in in the morning (if the room is ready) and then head to the park, lunch in Annettes, back to meet parents at the hotel anyway.....

I forgot about the bakeries in Main Street though. That could be an option if we head into the main park that morning. Though saying that, I'm ok to skip breakfast seeing as we'll be having earlyish lunch and there'll be no rush waking up.... worth telling DH though, thanks!

We've eaten in the New York - very yummy - but we did it as a brunch and skipped lunch that time! lol We're looking forward to Annettes!

I think we're almost definitely going to go for the no breakfast booking option, we'll decide tonight, but I REALLY appreciate chatting with you all about it!

(Oh, and I think EoS is open 8.30am onwards according to DLPGuide! Might be the easiest option if we spend the morning in the Studios!)

I would definitely go with the no breakfast option as it is such a big saving and then it gives you the option to grab some breakfast somewhere if required.

Your other option as you have a car is to pop to the shopping centre that morning and get something there as well as stocking up with snacks and other items to take home with you

Done it! I've changed the booking. We'll find something for breakfast! :goodvibes Such a difference in price I had to really!

Thanks all!
