My DN10 wants to go to the Butterfly Conservatory. Does anyone have any input on this? About how long should it take to explore the place? How much is admission and is it worth it? Would it interest my DD6 & DS5?

Thank you.

We did it in May of last year and loved it. We took the trolley over to stop #8 and the butterfly conservatory is only about a block from the stop. We also had a 10% coupon that we got in the package from Shirley (not sure if they still offer the copon, but I definately recommend getting Shirley's package - lots of great stuff).

Here's a link to the conservatory's website.

WDWLVR: Thanks for the reply and information. I visited the website and they do not mention pricing. Do you remember? How long did you spend there? I do have a coupon that Shirley sent with her package.

Anyone else?

Sorry I don't remember the cost because my MIL paid for us.

I think we were there about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes. It was a great part of our day.

My DS10 and I did this in January. We walked, but it is about a mile and a half from the dock. You go in and to the left there is room that shows videos about the life cycle of the butterfly. There are also cacoons if I remember correctly. Most people breeze through this because they want to get out to the butterflies - I wish we would have spent more time in this part. Then you go out the "backdoor" into the yard with butterflies. The place is the size of a big backyard. There is netting over the top. Butterflies are fluttering all around and sucking on strategically placed fruit. They tell you not to touch the butterflies and for some reason they don't land on people. You pass over a little wooden bridge with a gazebo area. This is about it - you can stay as long as you want to watch the butterflies. Then you go back in the "house" part and there is a butterfly gift shop. I can't remember the price. Here is the website: http://www.wingsofimagination.com/conservatory.html

We went there in Key West...it was cute. My 4 year old liked it a lot. We took the trolley there. We were inside maybe 20-25 minutes, its pretty small but if you have never been to one its a fun thing to do. I forget the price but we got a discount since it was mothers day.

We went there in April. We took the Bone Island Shuttle. Blue one way,red the other way. I think the Butterfly place was $10.00 per person, before the discount from Shirley.

Many thanks to all!!!

Plutojudy: Was that $10 for children also?

Wow....our cruise excursion budget is rapidly evaporating. We plan on hitting the Butterfly place, Ripley's Believe it or Not, and the aquarium. I think we are going to rent two four seat electric cars for both families.

Also, my DS5 is very into pirates thanks to Captain Jack Sparrow so I want to find something for him. Any suggestions?

Thanks again to all!!!

Gloria, sorry we didn't have children with us, so I don't know the admission price for children. We enjoyed the butterflies very much and would do it again.

I would make sure he attends "So You Want to Be A Pirate" in the kids clubs! Check the navigators on the castawayclub site, or the dcltribute for the approximate day. :) I don't believe "Captain Jack Sparrow" attends but I know Captain Hook does :)
