Yesterday, the mailman delivered a package from Sears. It was one of those large bubble envelope things. I was suprised, since I knew I hadn't ordered anything, and DH usually has me do any phone or net ordering...
I opened it up- to find a letter from Sears. It stated and I quote...
" Dear Sears Customer,
Our records indicate that you have purchased a Kenmore Elite Barbecue Grill identified under one of the following stock numbers : 15640, 16640, 16840, 17640, 17860.
Tha Manufacturer has informed sears of the possiblity that the hinge locking system may wear down with repeated forceful openings. To extend the life of the Elite hinge system, the manufacturer has provided an easy to install hinge bracket kit. Sears is requesting your cooperation in replacing this part on the grill lid usign the enclosed parts kit"...
It does go on- to tell/show how to install.
I was a bit baffled, because I knew I did not send in the product registration card. I went and pulled the manual from the file, and sure enough the little card is still there. I called Sears customer service...and asked just how they knew I bought this grill (2 years ago mind you!).....and the rep said, since we used our Sears Premier Card, when a recall, or anything of this is issued, they run a check and pull everyone who purchased the item in question with Sears Credit Cards...
I asked if this works with regular Credit Cards, and she said no, since they do not store personal info on those purchases they have no way of getting you the info etc....
I am completely impressed with Sears, I know they've had a few rough years lately, but by golly- this was superb customer service!
Just had to tell someone!
