Hi,
The shore side of DCL is telling me that it is possible for one KTTW card to be coded to open 2 rooms without having to carry two room cards. Can anyone confirm this? I am looking for someone that has actually had one KTTW card coded for 2 rooms? Thanks!

I was just on the Dream back in Feb and was not able to have it done.
We were on the 2nd deck and DD room was on the 10th.
DD & DSonnL went on an excursion and we took care of DGS (6), wanted our KTTW card programmed to our DD's room.

Well, crude! So what is the best way to handle someone who is booked in one room for perks purposes but wants to sleep in another cabin that the group has booked?

They are able to double code on the fantasy. We did it with no problem. I would have thought they could do it on the dream too. The magic and wonder cannot due to older technology.

If they won't double code for you, the user just has to remember that one key is for opening the door and the other is for purchases and embarking/disembarking.

We will be on the magic. :/

Guest Services can make extra keys for both rooms. You can mark them with a permanent marker to distinguish which key is for which cabin. I wouldn't put cabin numbers on them, though.

We had complicated bookings for perks reasons on our November Magic cruise. When we got on the ship, my DFIL and I went to Guest Services and got room key only cards for the room we would be sleeping in. These are the same cards - but with no print. The room key will only work as entry to the room. It's pretty obvious which one is which because your charging card is the one with all the printed info on it (name, dining rotation, muster station, etc). It's pretty easy to keep them straight since they're so obviously different.

And they didn’t ask any questions or care that you needed extra keys? How did you handle luggage? Did you put checked luggage with tags from the “perk” room or did you put luggage tags labeled with the actual room they were sleeping in?

They see this all the time - so GS didn't ask any questions. As for the luggage, we just put the tags for the correct room on each bag - they were next to each other, so it wasn't a big deal, but DCL doesn't know if my bag has my husband's tag on it!

Off topic - but what do you all mean when you say you book a room for perks but want to sleep somewhere else?

If it's a large family/group and only 2 people have cruised before (getting returning cruiser perks), they will split the two people into two different rooms (splitting the first time cruisers also). That way both rooms will get the returning cruiser gift. But, they want to sleep with their own family.

2 families = mom, dad, 2 girls in one room. Grandma, grandpa in 2d room. Aunt Jean, Uncle Roy, and 2 boys in 3rd room.

Mom, Dad & their two kids are returning cruisers (they get returning cruiser gift in their room on subsequent cruises).

Put Mom, Aunt Jean, and 1 kid in room 1.
Dad, Uncle Roy, and another kid in room 2.
One of the girls in the same room with Grandma & Grandpa.
Put second girl in any room they want.

Then, all rooms will get a returning cruiser gift. Then every little family group will need two KTTW cards in order to sleep in their own room.

We book connecting rooms so it's not a big deal, but no, they will not double code any more. Wonder used to do this but now they give you the second blank card too.

If they won't/can't code one KTTW card for two room then just ask for an extra room key for each cabin.

They will look like this. The CM at Guest Service also wrote with permanent marker the last two digits of our cabins on the back of our cards so we did not get them confused.

I don’t care if they double code, as long as they are willing to give me a second key card. Sounds like that’s what they’re doing.
