KTTW cards & upgrading to APs

It is my understanding that our KTTW cards are our room keys, have our dining plan credits on them, and have our tickets on them. What happens when we upgrade our "tickets" to Annual Passes? Will we be given those fragile little cardstock cards for them? Are we likely to experience any problems with the dining plan credits or room access on our KTTW cards once we've upgraded? Will we still be able to use the KTTW cards for theme park admission? Is there anything I need to look out for?

Hopefully someone out there who has done this change...

Thanks for your help!

Your dining credits will remain on your KTTW card. However, you will have to use your Annual Pass for park admission. Don't sell the material that the AP is made of short. The paper is quite tough. I tried ripping mine in half (an expired one) and it wouldn't budge.

We did that last fall. They give you the AP on its own little separate paperlike card. You still use the KTTW for dining, charging, and room access, but all theme park admission then needs to be with the AP itself.

I've had less trouble with the paperlike AP than I have had with the KTTW cards. They can't very well put the AP on the KTTW card, since the next time you visit (if you stay in a resort), you'd have a different KTTW card.

A tip... once you get your APs, take a photocopy (or even just a good digital photo) of the back and store in a safe place. If you ever lose them, having that info will help you get them replaced much more easily. :thumbsup2

I have (2) 10% AP discount cards. PM me if interested.
I can put them in the mail tomorrow... no charge!

No need to go through that exercise - its just as easy to show your ID (which they will need to see even if you had a photocopy of your AP) to the guest services people and they will print you out a new one.

Here's another question... where's the best place to upgrade our tickets to APs? (...bearing in mind it's one of these tricky things where our tickets are Non-expiring ones from the B4G3 promo, we're using them, and then we're upgrading them in order to have them give us the current gate price on the tickets, even though 3 days worth were free...)

You have to go to a guest service window at the front of a park. We have always used the one at Magic Kingdom and have never had any problems.

Hi, off topic of your question but there is a 10% off AP referral promo going on til end of July. If you would like a referral discount card, pm me & I'll drop it in mail to you.
FWIW- we have always gotten the paper tickets when we did our upgrade.
:goodvibes

Are they able to do a 10% off in addition to the fact that I'm saving close to $300 by getting my tickets with the B4G3 promo? I'm paying for 4-day, non-expiring tickets; yet receiving the value of 7-day, non-expiring tickets when I upgrade to APs, which is how I'm already saving close to $300.

That is my understanding, there is a big thread under theme park. If you want to pm info, I'll put it in the mail. It won't hurt to try:goodvibes

We just upgraded our 4/3 tickets on the 8th. Went to the guest window outside Epcot on our first day and got credit for all 7 days on our tickets. Had no problems at all. The only problem we had the whole stay was we decided to add an xtra day on at the resort. When they gave us the new KTTW card it didn't have our dining credits on it!!!! Of course we didn't find that out til the next day when we tried to get an early lunch at Disney Quest. We had skipped b'fast and were getting pretty hungry. Such a mixup!! Had to go back to the resort to get it straightened out.

Good to hear about the ticket upgrade being so smooth... sorry about the dining plan issue.

I upgraded mine at Guest Relations at Downtown Disney! No line! Qucik & easy, did get paperstock card though! Guest Relations was kind of near Ghiradelli, in the back near photopass.
