The day of the bridal shower was crazy to say the least! I was up at 5:15am (which is not that much of a stretch for me - I am usually up by 6 - but still early) because I knew I had a bunch of things to do. I went to my moms house, fairly early in the morning to get things started. My mom owns a daycare in her home, so she was home all day, and that is where all of the action was. One thing I had to do was sew lol We had bought 2 flower girl dresses because we asked 2 girls to be in the wedding, however the 1 cannot make it to Florida to be in the wedding. So we decided to let her wear her flower girl dress to the shower so she still gets to wear it and feel important. She is tall and thin, and there weren't many sizes when we bought the dress so it was quite big. I spent at least an hour that day sewing to dress to try and make it fit her so that she could wear it. I honestly don't even remember everything else that I did that day. Just helped to put all of the food on trays, I had to pick up some things from MIL's house (because she was working and nobody else could do it), I had to meet my bridesmaid at work (we work at the same place), little things like that.
Because I have only 1 bridesmaid, I had to help a little to get things ready. Bad etiquette or not, I had to help at least a little lol I helped my grandma load all of the food into her van to take to the church, then I helped her unload once we got there, and I helped her get out and set up the tables. After that I left, so I didn't really see any of the actual decorating, I was just some extra muscle power.
After unloading everything, I got back home at around 4 o'clock. I then had to shower, pluck my eyebrows

, do my hair and makeup, get dressed, and drive to the other side of town by 7pm. I figured I had lots of time - 3 hours is usually way more than I need. Somehow I ended up getting really shy on time and left a little later than I had planned - oops! I then got stuck behind someone going 20 km under the speed limit the entire way to the church

But in the end, I did make it there pretty much on time.
Now onto some pictures! Like I said, my mom owns a daycare, and all of the girls think of me as a big sister. It is amazing how close you can get to these kids. And they were all so excited, wanting to come to my "wedding" so my mom said that they could come, but there was no pressure on the parents if they didn't want to. Here are a couple of pictures of my "princesses". I would love to show you their beautiful little faces, but I decided to block them out for privacy reasons.
These are pictures of them before they left and on their way.
This is my little cousin having fun at the shower.
I bought all of my princesses a crown and a wand for the shower, and they loved them! Here are some pictures of that:
And now for some other pictures of how the hall looked etc.
This is one of me and my brother, who is my bridesman. He was pretty bored, and didn't really want to go to a girl party, but he loves me so he came lol
I was dreading the gift opening for a while. I don't know why, but opening gifts in front of people has always bothered me. I wanted to make sure that everyone knew that I appreciated their gift and their attendance at the shower. Thankfully, I had my "princesses" to help me with the gift opening. They were so good and so cute. They all sat in a line in front of me, and waited their turn in helping me open gifts.
This one is a Disney themed pail of honeymoon goodies - flip flops, chap stick, sunscreen, towel, etc.
I am sure that (as DISers) you already did, but everyone please note the Minnie ear veil that I am wearing. My aunt made it for me, and I was so surprised when she showed it to me!
I have one final picture now. My bridesmaid had a cake made for me. Our boss' wife makes cakes and she made this beautiful creation just for me!
I love love loved this cake! It was beautiful and so delicious! She made it marble cake with regular vanilla frosting, and the icing was white, purple (it looks kind of blue in the picture) and yellow.
The shower was over so quickly! It is really true what all of you ladies say! I wish that I would have taken more pictures with me and people that came to the shower, but it was just over in a flash!
My bridesmaid and I went out and had a couple of drinks afterwards (a few other friends were supposed to come too but couldn't make it).
All in all, it was a great night. I had a really great time, and got to see some people that I haven't seen in a while. Before I know it, I will be saying that my wedding was over too quickly!
