Kroger 4x Fuel Points

I didn't see this posted anywhere yet so thought I would share. I was in Kroger yesterday and they were running 4x fuel points on gift cards. I was in a hurry so I didn't stop to look at any of the details. So not sure of the dates or anything.

They typically offer this every summer in my area around Father's Day so what we've done is take the money my kids each want to spend and but Disney Cards for each of them with their money on it. With the 4X fuel points, I just saved $1.00 per gallon filling up my wifes 26 gallon tank. This not only saves me money, but is a great way to keep my kids souveneir money safe!

I just bought some Disney gc's at Kroger this past weekend. I filled up my giant Suburban yesterday and saved $19.60! I'll be buying more this weekend for sure!

Also, I wasn't aware until the lady at the Kroger Starbucks showed me. There is a coupon in their weekend ads for 2x points on your groceries. I'm not exactly sure but I think it's only for June. It's hard to find, but if you get the ad there is a flap on the front cover. Open it and the coupon was at the bottom. You just have the cashier scan it or there is a way to load it on your Kroger card but I'm not sure how that is done...

That's true. Or you can download it to your card on their website. That's what I did and then that coupon showed up on their app.

They also had a one use coupon in the weekly ad. It is for Fri, Sat and Sun thru 6-30 and does not include gift cards or pharmacy. You can download it on their website to your card for unlimited uses. We fill up two cars and our 5 gallon tank for the lawnmower, saves around $40-50 in gas!

Purchase Disney (or any other brand) gift cards at Kroger. Be sure to use your Kroger Plus card when you check out. You earn 4 times the normal rewards points during the promotion. These rewards points will give you $ off of gas at Kroger/Turkey Hill/Shell gas stations.

You don't use the rewards to buy the gift cards, you use the rewards to get cheap gas.

You know how many rewards points you have because it prints them at the bottom of your sales receipt. It tells you how many points you have and how many are about to expire at the end of the month. When you get gas and swipe your rewards card it tells you how much discount is available on your account and asks if you want to redeem it for that fill up.

What I DO NOT like about this is that if you do not have your rewards card to scan at the pump you can just type in your phone number associated with the account. Since Kroger is headquartered in Ohio they have stores all over the place around here. So just about everybody in the area has Kroger rewards cards. There is no way for them to check your identity when you type in a phone number and use that account's fuel rewards. I had $2 off per gallon and somebody used it at a Shell gas station about 30 miles away. You can type in a random phone number and if it is tied to a Kroger Plus Card account, you can steal their fuel rewards. And Kroger won't do a darned thing to help you.

Customer service told me it was partially my fault for leaving so many rewards points on my account. Its not like I can leave them on there for months and months...they do expire, so its not like I just left them on there for 6 months. Over a 2 month period I saved up a bunch of points and when I went to redeem them, most of them had already been used. I had to argue with Kroger's crappy customer service and after making several calls and them refusing to give my points back, I went to my local store manager and asked him to call somebody. I didn't get my rewards back on my account until I got the store manager involved. I have no clue who used up my points since I don't know anybody in the town where they were redeemed. The store manager said the thief probably just typed in a random phone number. And once they get a hit, they keep monitoring the account (by typing in the number at the pump) to see the points grow. When the points start getting high they steal the points before the real account holder uses them. If the real account holder uses the points before the thief gets a chance then they hang onto that number and monitor the account until the points start accumulating again. Yes, a store manager told me all of this. So that means Kroger is aware that it happens and don't do anything about it.
