Krispy Kreme Donuts?

Don't know if this is true but someone told be that 1 KK glazed has the same amount of fat as a Big Mac. I can't eat either one any more.

We had them last week at CHef Mickey's and Donald's Breakfastsaurus. THey had the glazed and the chocolate frosted.

There are about 12 grams of fat in a krispy kreme glazed. I'd bet there are a lot more in a big mac!

lol the donut wars... i love them both. I just opened up the front page of the Boston Globe, which features how DD is expanding in to the south. One store opened last week and sold out within a few hours (all the donuts that is - 642 dozen, people consumed 14,000 donuts). The article said that the new franchises that open up in the south are doing very well. I wanted Krispy Kreme up north but they didn't seem to expand enough in the right places, there was a lot of hype but not enough of them to cover the hype up here in New England. I think that's why it didn't last. I guess we'll just have to eat them while we're at Disney then.
Yay! There's hope yet! Although we have Krispy Kremes at the Circle K's (like Honeyfarms) around here and Shippley's Donuts too, and I believe "there's no such thing as a bad donut", my mouth waters at the thought of a DD Blueberry crunch donut. I haven't had Dunkin Donuts in years, and to me they're the best.

OMG, the Main St. Bakery has Krispy Kremes?!!! I'm so excited. I love Krispy Kremes but we don't have any up here. I had them twice in my life and looooooooooove them. Are they nice and fresh at park opening? Oh, I can't wait!

When we're at WDW we like to get things we can't get at home. FWIW, KK put DD out of business here about 3-4 years ago. :)

Hi Paul! :teeth: :wave2:

Sounds like we are neighbors! We now have to go to Mohegan Sun for our Krispy Kreme fix. :rotfl: I wonder what they are putting in the old Krispy Kreme building? It looks like they are putting something in. :confused3

:sunny:

We may be! We have a Shaw's supermarket near us that carries KK donuts, but I have heard that they are best when they are hot from the fryer. My DW and I have had them that way when the store was open, but I still like DD better if I'm going to waste the fat and calories. It must be a northern thing. ;)

Truth is we don't eat too many donuts of any kind any more, but if we do it's the chocolate coconut cake donut from DD. :thumbsup2

Seriously?!? Maybe it's a Southern thing, cause it's the opposite here - Krispy Kremes are everywhere, and are very profitable (a friend of mine franchised one and does VERY well)!! I loathe Dunkin Donuts.....actually don't know anyone who likes them. Chalk it up to "cultural differences". ;)

I was thinking the exact same thing. Krispy Kreme is alive and well in the south. I can think of numerous Dunkin Donuts locations in my area that have closed over the years.

KK went out of business in less then 1 year in our area. DD is king here. Now it seems like Tim Hortons is building a location every 10 miles. I loved Tim Hortons when I went north to Canada. For some reason the US Hortons are not as good. I predict they will also be out of business soon due to market saturation.

Love that I can get KK in WDW, however, nothing beats getting them hot off that little conveyor thing. Are any KK's still open in Orlando area? Seriously, it's the reason we get a rental car.

I love both KK and DD in their own, special ways. :) DD is definitely better for cake donuts, but KK is definitely better for the fluffy, glazed kind of donut!

if you can stand another yankee view...

when i want cake donuts I eat dunkins. but KK's are my fav.. when we travel, we find where the KK is near where we are staying, and i always take pictures... :teeth: there is nothing like a hot glazed donut that just melts in your mouth.

now i am hungry, and no KK's until we leave for disney on friday!

there is a KK at the food court at MCO airport, along with a starbucks, and seattles best coffee(which is really good)
:sunny:

WELL WELL WELL I guess i am lucky because i live in the home town where kk was first made winston salem, NC. :cool1:  :cheer2:

Sometimes it does get old sometimes!! :rolleyes1

Sorry, folks, but I don't care for either Krispy Kreme or Dunkin' Donuts. Or Winchell's, if they're still around back in CA.

While I love doughnuts, the only ones I really enjoy are the ones from local mom-and-pop dounhnut shops. There's one near where we live that serves up doughnuts that taste so wonderful that they don't have to try to mask the flavor by dunking them in gobs of sugar. Just a light coating of glaze is plenty. And they're not greasy. Just good, old-fashioned doughnut goodness!

But to each his own, of course. :)

It might be considered traitorous by some living in NC and saying this, but I prefer the variety DD offers vs the BORING KK's.

We only have 19 days until POR!!!!! Yea!!!!

I totally agree (but this is from a transplanted southerner, originally I am a yankee too :teeth: )

There is nothing in this world as wonderful as a Hot Krispy Kreme donut. I will travel miles for one. When I was in college, it was an incredible midnight snack to study with.
