Krispey Kreme donuts?

Now you're all making me want a donut... that is NOT good for my diet. :rolleyes1

Ooooooo just had them on the Wonder the first week of May and even though they are frozen, chilled or whatever, they tasted pretty good to me. I just don't eat the holes cause that's the fattening part!! ;)

Too sweet and too gross for me. It's all hype as far as I'm concerned.

Ok! I am leaving for our cruise in 1 week and this thread is NOT helping the extra few pounds I want to loose before we go, just to gain it back of course from all the fantastic food! LOL

KK is just the best doughnut EVER. Oh and if you can get there first thing in the morning when they open! UHHHHH..... How do they do that, it is just perfect! We have one down the road and I think I might need to take a trip now! lol Again... not helping the diet!

They closed up all the KK stores around here as well. Dunkin' Donuts was thier competition. KK couldn't compete.

Here's a quick question about the donut selection. Is there a Boston Creme one available? That is my sons favorite flavor.

My son can eat donuts until the cows come home--he's super skinny and very active.

My family loves Krispy Kreme! It is a big deal to us cause my oldest is allergic to peanuts so Dunkin Donuts is off limits. Krispy Kreme is peanut and nut free! She takes them with her to birthday parties to eat instead of the cake and sometimes I even have her school freeze them to keep on hand for parties, etc.
We go to the old Krispy Kreme by our house and watch them make them and then eat them up while they're still hot! They totally melt in your mouth! We can't go to ice cream places so this is a special treat for her.

Paula Dean made a bread pudding the other day using Krispy Kreme donuts -

Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding with Butter Rum Sauce

2 dozen Krispy Kreme donuts
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
2 (4.5-ounce) cans fruit cocktail (undrained)
2 eggs, beaten
1 (9-ounce) box raisins
1 pinch salt
1 or 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Butter Rum Sauce, recipe follows

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Cube donuts into a large bowl. Pour other ingredients on top of donuts and let soak for a few minutes. Mix all ingredients together until donuts have soaked up the liquid as much as possible.

Bake for about 1 hour until center has jelled. Top with Butter Rum Sauce.

Butter Rum Sauce:
1 stick butter
1 pound box confectioners' sugar
Rum, to taste
Melt butter and slowly stir in confectioners' sugar. Add rum and heat until bubbly. Pour over each serving of Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding.

I love the Food Network and Paula's show! I was just at my parent's hosue last night and my dad told me about this recipe! Thanks for posting it! :goodvibes

Where you are from seems to determine if you love or hate Krispy Kremes. Around here, their marketing plans got them in trouble. They follow the same marketing plan as Wal-Mart and Starbucks.....find a successful competitor, build a store next to them, and try to drive them out of business. Wal-Mart seems to fare better than Starbucks and Krispy Kremes because Wal-Mart sells the same product, but at a lower price. Starbucks and Krispy Kreme sell their product at a higher price, and in many instances, the competitors they targeted had a cheaper price on a product that many felt was better.

I don't buy the packaged Krispy Kremes at the grocery - to me they aren't anything special. And forget about zapping them in the microwave. It just isn't the same.

But - OMG!!!! There is nothing, NOTHING like a HOT Krispy Kreme right off the machine at one of their stores. It is fantastic and melts in your mouth!!!!

  :Pinkbounc :yay: :bounce: :thumbsup2

Now I know why I like Dunkin Donuts better - peanuts!!!! Thank GOD - not all of us have allergies!!!

No wonder there is an obesity epidemic in the U.S. I'm VERY scared of some of the ingredients in this recipe!!!

As far as Krispy Kreme, we've had one here near Akron, OH for years, so it was never a big deal, but I was bummed when they closed the bakeries and put them in the stores. Fortunately, I'm not a big sweets eater, so not a big deal that they aren't around anymore. They also opened a big factory near us, and within a year, it was shut down. My B-I-L delivers for Hostess and he said Hostess' business is in BIG trouble too. Too many people on the low carb diets!!

CNN had a restaurant expert on this week addressing Krispy Kremes problems.

1) Hit hard by the anti-carb craze

2) Expensive

3) Folks after a while decide they really aren't that good.

The "no peanut" comment alarms me a little though. I do not have peanut allergies, but understand what a huge problem that is. My concern is, Krispy Kreme here sells donuts with peanuts on them. So hope folks with peanut allergies don't go to Krispy Kreme expecting the store to be peanut free, because not all of them are.

That must just be yours or some that are peanut free because I know I get donuts with nuts on them from our local Krispy Keme store....

KK came up to Canada and there definately was a craze for a while. But, we Canadians are VERY loyal to our Tim Hortons and KK just can't compete.

I had KK doughnuts, no big deal, our local bakeries put them to shame, but then so do dunkin doughnuts.

I am more surprised that Disney doesn't make doughnuts fresh on board, instead of relying on KK to supply them.

Nothing beats a fresh made doughnut.

I beleive Disney used to have their own and was horrified when I saw them, they might as well put McDonalds onboard. Even if they had "bake off" doughnuts onboard it would be more special than Krispy Kreams. I work in a grocery store and it's a slapp in the face when people come in asking if we have KK. Our people get up at 3:00 to start making fresh doughnuts everyday. People ask are these doughnuts fresh?? DUH!! :confused3 :dance3:

I remember that the first time I saw KK on board the Wonder, I was drooling because here in the UK I only know of two KK outlets - one in Harrods (of all places) in London and the other in a shopping centre in Dartford, Kent. Both of which are hours away from me otherwise I'd look like a KK doughnut !!!
