I've seen a lot about these machines on here so I thought I would ask.... Where is the best place to buy the cups? Are their coupons I should be looking for?

My sister is buying a machine for our dad for Christmas and I offered to buy the refills. I have a Costco membership, and a BJs membership if those happen to be better places.

Also which are the "better" ones? I personally do not drink coffee so I am clueless. I know he likes his coffee black with sugar and drinks Foldgers regularly. When Starbucks had the instant coffee stuff he liked the pumpkin spice ones.

I have a BJ's membership and the price is good but I have to buy 96 of the same thing, I like more variety.

Make sure your Dad registers his machine on the Keurig website when he gets it and they will send an e-mail to buy 2 get 2 free and that reaches the minimum for free shipping.

I sometimes buy them at Kohls when they are con sale, then early bird discount and my sis often has a 30% using her Kohls charge and she gets them for me.

Target has pretty good regular prices on line, plus 5% discount and free shipping with Red Card. I have also found better prices in store at Target' got a box of Gloria Jeans the other week for $8!

There is a reusable cup called "My K-Cup" that someone can put any coffee they want into. My mother just uses that with her regular Folgers from Walmart - she didn't want to try new coffees when I got her the machine, and she didn't like Folgers' K-cups. Also, according to her, the Keurig makes weaker coffee than a regular pot, and she can only use the smallest cup size brew setting to make it good, so if he likes strong coffee, that might be a tip to give him.

Personally, I drink a lot of the hot apple cider, hot chocolate, Twinings earl grey tea, and Dunkin Donuts flavored coffees (the peppermint mocha is great, and I don't like coffee that much). The manufacturer Green Mountain Coffee makes a Pumpkin Spice that my roommate likes.

I buy my cups on Amazon if the per-unit price works out cheaper than Target, which is only sometimes - I keep a spreadsheet with the math involved. :lmao: The prices change somewhat regularly on Amazon, which is bothersome.

I do wish it were possible to get more "variety packs" without resorting to repackaged sets from third parties, though. I just bought a ton of peppermint and rooibos tea because they weren't available in smaller boxes. :confused3

we found the best price at Costco (you can order at Costco.com too- free shipping) The Kirkland brand is lowest. We love the Breakfast blend. just got 200 k cups for around $75 and shipped to the house free.

That's about the lowest we've found in the last 3 yrs.

My wife and I like the Kirkland (Costco) brand Breakfast Blend.

We also use something called an EZ Cup that uses paper refills for coffee that are not sold in K-Cups (local coffee place that does its own beans).

Another vote fo the reusable Kcup being too weak.

I have found that if I get a little ahead that I can cut the cost by combining coupons with sales at Target.

When I get up in the morning I still brew a pot with my other coffee maker. DH and my DDs do not drink as much coffee so they use the Keureg. It is great for DS 12 because he can make his own hot chocolate. We also run plain water through it fir his ramen noodle cups.

I also agree that the reusable cups with a regular grind coffee is too weak. You need to use a fine grind. Something like an espresso grind.

the reusable kcup can't be used with some of the smaller machines; I can't use one with mine.

We order from greenmountaincoffee.com. Join the cafe express auto delivery program, and you get an instant discount 15% on each order. Stay with the program long enough, and your discount increases to 20%. Coffee ships free with at least four 24-count boxes ordered. The best part is, when your brewer runs out of warranty with Kuerig, GMC will replace it as long as you have cafe express membership. That alone is worth it's weight in gold. I've gone thru several brewers where the pump has stopped working.

Costco is $85 when I look. Is it a geographical difference? Shouldn't be on a website, right?

I don't like flavored coffee just good strong coffee. I buy Newmans Organics and Starbucks kcups at Costco.

The breakfast blend is too weak for me.

Costco also sells a Green Mountain variety pack of of 72 which includes Hawaiian Blend, Dark Magic, Donut Shop, and Breakfast Blend. I think it is usually around $38.

I use decaf and it's harder to find. I loved the Kona which you can no longer find, now it's a blend. Newman's is good and DH and DD like Donut Shoppe. I get mine through Green Mountain as well. If I was getting it to go with a gift I would get several of the variety packs. Bed, Bath and Beyond have them as does Kohls and you can use the % off coupons so they aren't a bad price.
I find the Kcups are too strong, so I make 1 1/2 to 2 large cups at a time and mix them!!! I guess I like weak coffee.

We buy from Bed, Bath & Beyond using their ubiquitous 20% off coupons. Lots of different choices there. Typically we wind up around the 50 cent per cup cost. :coffee:

If you want to get a reuseable cup I highly recommend these.

You can also find them on amazon. Great if you want to use a coffee that you can't get in a k-cup and I use it for my teas. It gives me a fairly strong cup of tea (which I love).

We usually get ours at costco for bulk ones and when Harris Teeter has some of theirs on special buy the different ones for hubby. Combine those with a cupon and you can get some great deals on them.

Also be aware there are now two different types of Keurig machines. One uses Kcups and the newest ones use Keurig Vue cups. They are not the same, so make sure you get the ones that fit the machine you buy.

I would not buy a big box of anything until you know what he prefers. I am very picky about what I like to drink and would hate for someone to buy 96 of something I don't like. Maybe get a variety as a gift. I prefer a strong flavored coffee, my husband likes a small weak regular blend.
