I was just reviewing the trip advisor ratings for WDW restaurants before our big trip in January.

Kouzzina is ranked #836.

Tripadvisor says it is #836 out of 1200+, BUT if you look at the site...the last 200-300 have no reviews whatsoever.

So...Kouzzina is actually ranked #836 out of #868.

I know that you can generally take Trip Advisor rankings with a grain of salt...but no one had given this restaurant a superior rating. You don't get #1 and #836 confused, IMHO.

We cancelled our reservation for breakfast at Kouzzina before going to Epcot and replaced it with a night at Whispering Canyon after early Wishes in the Magic Kingdom.

Did you have a good experience with Kouzzina, is it that bad?

Do you think this effects the enjoyment of the Boardwalk area?

My mom and I went opening week and it was amazing! We had the mezza platter for a shared appy and Greek salads for our main (we were headed on the cruise the next day so eating light) - everything at the tables around us looked phenomenal too...can't see why it's getting such bad reviews, maybe we were just lucky.

One thing you have to take into consideration IMO is that Kouzzina is authentic Greek food (I'm not of Greek ancestry, so I maybe wrong on this) so it takes a little bit of an adventerous spirit to try it out. We skipped it because unfortunately my family is not very willing to try new flavors especially when at Disney world.

I think it's a bit early for it to really get a lot of consistent reviews.

I do like trip advisors simply for the fact it's not the Dis and I get more rounded reviews. Here it's made up of disney fanatics who tend to get annoyed if you dare say anthing negative aboout the mouse. I tend to take the reviews here with a grain of salt also.

My thoughts exactly. I tend to agree more with Trip Advisor reviews, but with a caution when there are not a lot of reviews yet received on a restaurant or hotel (typically newer places) or places that are in tourist destinations with people who may not be used to a specific type of food.

As this is not a DVC specific topic, I'm moving it to the Restaurants board.

I was there a few weeks ago- entire dinner took over 2 hrs. The food was decent for me, nothing really to brag about. Waitress disappear here and there. My DS has allergies and was feeling well that night, so i wanted to order chicken soup that was on the appetizer menu for $7. The chef specially made a homemade chicken soup for my son for $2.50. Nice of him. Then the hostess had to bring us dessert and utensils because the waitress disappeared. Then had to wait another 15min. to find the waitress to get our bill. I asked if they were shorthanded, she said, no, just that everyone came in all at once and they couldn't handle it. In the mean time, the restaurant was only 3/4 full. :confused3

Our family ate there last night. I'd read some not-so-good reviews, but we really enjoyed our meal here. We split the kouzzina sampler, which was a selection of nice tastes & textures. DW wished she'd had this as her entree-she ordered the Spiced Briami instead, but it was a little heavy on potatoes for her liking. DD20 had the Fishermans Stew which she absolutely loved, and DS18 said his lamb shank was the best roasted meat he ever had. I had the whole fish which was a red snapper with braised greens, roasted garlic, peppers and olives. The server fileted it @ the table. It was absolutely fantastic.

For dessert I had the Baklava, which was garnished with a 2 inch square of chocolate & a small scoop of pistachio gelato. DW & DS each had the Galaktoboureko and DD had the yogurt sorbet with berries and mint syrup. We all loved them, but the large portions were too much so we only had half.

We enjoyed Kouzzina very much & will definitely come back. It was a longish meal (90 minutes), but I prefer that to getting the entrees before we're finished with the appetizer & the check while finishing dessert. We had a late ADR & it was a relaxing way to end the day.

We ate there in September, I think it was still in "soft opening" phase. DW liked her beef dish, I thought the Greek lasagna(there was an actual name I don't recall) was just fair. Service was spotty too. As someone else said, the server seemed to disappear for exteneded times.

I suppose I'd give it another shot, maybe try the whole fish because the reviews on it seem to be good.:earsboy:

I went in late August (still soft opening) for breakfast and it was amazing. Had the Turkey Sweet Potato Hash dish and a white wine Sangria. It's the best breakfast I've had on Disney property! No experience (yet) with lunch/dinner, but I'll definitely go back.

I think you have to form your own opinion... give it try.

It does get very mixed reviews.

As I have posted a few times now my entree there was excellent.
It was the whole fish. (a 2lb red snapper)
The side order of Brussels sprouts were also excellent.

The apps and desserts were nothing special, typical Disney fair IMO.

It seems that people who get the whole fish or the lamb shank give the meal a very good review.

Overall it is one of the few meals I feel are worth paying for OOP.
I would skip the app, soup and dessert though.

I have also heard that the stacked breakfast is very good.

I don't really pay that much attention to Trip Advisor or, for that matter, to the reviews on this site. If the menu looks good, I go try it for myself.

I did really like the whole fish there and I would give it a better rating than most people tend to.

How do you get Trip Advisor to narrow down the search to WDW restaurants? The closest I could get was Orlando.

Thanks!

I had a pretty awful time at Kouzzina. I think the food could have been good if everything wasn't so darn over salted!!! Our server was MIA for most of the night. I was really disappointed with Kouzzina. If you want to read about my experience more in depth, you can look at my dining review.

Just got back from an awesome dinner at Kouzzina! Not sure why it gets bad reviews.

My 2 daughters and I got the flank steak with potatoes and it was great and my husband had the lamb shank and said it was the best lamb shank he has had.

We also had the saganaki appetizer and were surprised to get 2 nice size pieces of cheese and it tasted wonderful

Desserts were the chocolate budino cake (yum), greek cookies with iced coffee (good) and baklava which was 2 big pieces and my daughter loved it

Everything tasted really good. Nothing too bland or overpowering..family said it was the best meal we had here.

Oh and our server was Tony (who was actually Asian and I think his name is Tuan) and he was very good and attentive. Excellent service

I say give it a try you may be surprised.

We ate there one month ago tonight and quite enjoyed it.
We are more adventurous eaters than some, but DS and DD not so much.
While the service was slower than the fast-food like service we experienced at L'Cellier this trip, it was fine-no missing servers or long waits for courses.
Even though we were warned by our server that the meals are cooked to order, and perhaps we would like to order appies, which we declined, we really did not wait too long for our mains.

The kids liked the smoothies.......

No photo of DH's Lamb Shank but he really enjoyed it.

Here is DD's Greek Style Flank Steak-orzo subed for potatoes-DS also had this but with the roasted potatoes-they both enjoyed it.

and for dessert-my Blakava. This was a bit drier than I am use to, but I took some back to the room and managed to polish it off over the next few days.
The pastashio ice cream that came with it was fantastic, better than I thought it would be.

It was all I had hoped, and will be returning, maybe for breakfast and dinner on our next trip--alas, it is still 15 months away:confused3

Could some of this be that people were hoping Cat Cora would come up with something--well--BETTER???

I agree somewhat. I do think Cat Cora should have been able to come up with something better since this is her first restaurant. She has worked in many places and her family owned places, but this is the first that is her's and she has put her name on.

I still don't know how she even became an "Iron Chef" except to fill a perceived void by the network. Of course I'm still trying to figure out how Rachel Ray got a show on anything but public access.

I do feel this is as good as you can do at a 1TS location in Disney.
Although her name is on it, I assume Disney owns it and manages it.
They have to work within the limitations of what they get for 1TS credit and what they can get for food from the Disney central food (I also assume).
For a 1TS location the food I had was very good, but I will be surprised to see the whole fish still be on the menu in a year.

All that being said though, since they charge for the soups and appetizers there is no excuse for those being subpar. That is where they can make up for the DDP.

Also how do you grind you own beans and still make a bad espresso? How can she let this pass as espresso? It's not that hard.

When I go back I will most likely be paying OOP and I will skip all but the beers and the entrees.

I was really interested in going to this restaurant when I first heard that it was opening at the Boardwalk. I absolutely love authentic Greek food and am always open to trying new things. However, I have to admit that the bad reviews scared me away. It wasn't so much the reviews of the food but the horrible service and loud atmosphere that people are reporting. I have no problem with the length of the meal. I enjoy longer meals and can't stand feeling rushed. So, we booked Sanaa instead for our upcoming February vacation.

My husband is determined to try it so he can dine at an Iron Chef's restaurant. So I'm going along for the ride. I hope we can come back with good reviews.

Oh and it wasnt loud when we were there last night either..not any louder then other places we have been to..I hope people arent scared off as it was a good meal for us
