Hi all, what is the recipe for these drinks I hear so much about?
I'm thinking about firing up the blender tonight. Who says you have to be in the Carribean to enjoy them? I may even throw on my bathing suit (Ha ha):bounce: :D

I'd love to know this also...I sure did drink my share of them on our cruise!!!

I am guessing here, but I would use one can of frozen pina colada mix with a little orange juice and a little pineapple juice (or maybe mango?) and rum, and crushed ice blended together:)
if you try it let us know what you used and how it came out:D

I have an old Navigator here that says:

"Light & Dark Rum, Orange Juice, Passion Fruit & Coconut Cream"

No word on the proportions, but I would imagine you could have fun with experimentation until you come up with the right mix.

Do you want the Bahama Mama recipe? I got it in the Art of Entertaining program I attended. I think I still have it somewhere.

I never made it to the liquor store yesterday. Hopefully I will try to get there today. Hopefully I can find all the ingredients.
Liza, sure send the recipe for the Bahama Mama.

I was looking through "Carribean" magazine and found a recipe that looks pretty good from the Bahamas. The drink is called
"Tipsy Turtle". It's supposed to be very popular. Here are the ingredients:
1. you need a gallon size container
2. 1 quart orange juice
3. 1 quart pineapple juice
Then it says" fill the jug with equal parts Vodka,Coconut rum and Banana rum. Add a splash of Grenadine, shake, pour over ice and Crawl out of your Shell !!!".

Sounds good to me!
take care,:bounce:

Oh yeah, that sounds good, but what's everybody else gonna drink?;)

perdidobay - No kidding! what a recipe. I guess it's so popular in the Bahamas that they make it by the gallon. No problem I would share it!:bounce: :D

maybe I can help. For dark rum use Myer's Original dark. For the light Bacardi light. 1 and 1/2 oz. of each rum, for juices 2 oz of each and about 1 1/2 of cream of coconut Lopez the kind in the can, I have found it to works best. Mix in a blender with crushed ice.

Bahama Mama's
1 1/2 oz Myer's, 1 1/2 oz Capt Morgan Rum, 1 1/2 oz of OJ, 2 oz of Pineapple juice splash of grenadine. Blend with crushed ice and garnish with a orange and a cherry.

I hope you enjoy them.:bounce: :D

I make it with light and dark rum (equal portions - 4 oz. each), pina colada mix (12 oz.) and orange/pinapple frozen concentrate (1/3 cup)....blended with ice (enough to fill blender).

Pretty close...reminds us of Castaway Cay!

When my DW and I were at the adult beach the gentlemen who served us our coolers said there were 3 different rums in it along with other ingredients. He didn't say what they were.

Coach

Interesting - we asked and were told 2 different types of Rum (light and dark). Either way, ours tastes pretty similar.

I am sitting here with a konk cooler! Thanks for posting the recipes

I used 3 oz. light bacardi rum
3 oz. myers dark rum
4 oz. orange juice
1/2 can cream of cocnut coco casa brand
1/2 can frozen welches passion fruit
21/2 cups ice
blended in blender

It is pretty darn close to the ones on the magic and wonder.
THanks again

This is the one I've been using all along.

If you can't find passion fruit concentrate on its own, an apple/passion/mango mix works just as well.

1/2 can cream of coconut
3 ounces light rum
3 ounces dark rum
1/2 of a 12oz can frozen passion fruit juice concentrate(Welches)
4 oz of orange juice
2-3 cups of ice
Add all together in a blender until very fine and smooth

We used the first recipe on this thread yesterday and it was DEVINE!
