I made a reservation for dinner at Kona Cafe for June 12th, the evening we arrive. However, since I've never been there, is it good? Is it a nice place for children?
I'm not sure if to keep this reservation or cancel and try to get one for dinner at the Sci-Fi that night since it's booked completely on the 14th...

Kona is my favorite. Le Cellier use to be but we tried Kona in Dec. on our last trip and it is now my favorite. They have very good food, relaxed atmosphere, and excellent deserts. Have you looked at the menu? If it sounds good to you, I say try it! It may be your new favorite too.

We love Kona too!:thumbsup2 It's one of my favorite restaurants at Disney. I have 3 little girls and they love it here too. It's very kid friendly. The restaurant has a fairly open floorplan with a Polynesian decor. At the dessert table in the back of the restaurant, there's a chocolate looking sculpture of Lilo and Stitch that my girls thought was so cute!

The food is really good here too. I had the terriyaki steak with pineapple glaze and my hubby had the scallops dish. Both were awesome. For dessert I had the Kileaua chocolate torte which was amazing and hubby had the creme brulee. It's all so good!:goodvibes

We are dining at Kona 3 times during our upcoming trip.....twice for dinner and once for breakfast. Why?.....because we loved it that much during our last trip. In fact when I started my adrs this trip my hubby requested it for our first night.

We also love Sci-Fi.....we are dining there this time as well.

If you do end up cancelling Kona try and get it for another day.

Kona was our favorite meal of our honeymoon. If you need a ton of ambiance this isn't the place for you but the food is outstanding.

I LOVE Kona!! Well be there June 10th

I think they have delicious food and I can't wait to go back:banana:

Is it true they serve Tonga Toast at the 24-hour snack bar at the Poly?

We prefer breakfast but dinner was great for DH not so much for me.

It is very loud in there too

We love Kona for both breakfast & dinner! I would say to try it for sure. We have had dinner there our last two trips ... it's funny, two years ago I thought it was really fairly quiet considering the amount of people there. Last year I thought it was much louder but we still really enjoyed our meal.

Kona is a great place to eat for breakfast or dinner. I prefer breakfast for the tonga toast. :rotfl2:. Have a nice dinner.

We have eaten Breakfast there before and loved it so much that we wanted to try it for dinner....I am so glad that we did because Kona is now one of our must dos each time we are at the World. They have awesome food (even the kids plates were "very yummy" according to my DDs) and the chocolate fondue is to DYE for. I say keep your ressie because you will not be dissapointed.

Thanks for this thread, I've been second guessing DH's birthday dinner at Kona, but this is helping to reassure me that it's gonna be good! We're having dinner and all DH said was "I've always wanted to eat at a restaurant in the Poly" So, I picked this one, and been going back and forth with switching it to Ohana....so this helps me! :)

Oh yeah, for an adult dinner definitely Kona (although kids are welcome - it is a family place also.) 'Ohana is fun, but noisy & hectic with the entertainment going on - which is really for the kids with coconut races & such. So I guess you'd say 'Ohana is more about kids, Kona is a more adult experience. We loved the teriyaki steak and the prime rib. And the desserts...ooohhh, I want some banana creme brulee now! (that's a layer of thick chocolate fudge cream on the bottom...yummy)
