Hi All,

I have heard some great things about Kona and have a few questions.

#1 - The sticky wings...are they on the bone or are they boneless?

#2 - What is the Char Crusted Medallions of Filet Mignon? Is Medallions like slices? :confused3 How is it different from when you order a Filet Mignon at other restaurants?

What are the "Must Haves" at this restaurant?

Thanks,

Loralie

I can't answer your other questions, but the macadamia mahi-mahi was absolutely delicious! 2 of us ordered it and loved it. Our friend substituted mashed potatoes for the rice which I should have done - looked yummy. It comes with shoestring fried onions all over the top - YUM! I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!

I think the "must have" dessert was the Kileau Torte. Some pictures for your enjoyment!

I also have a picture of the crab cakes if you would like to see them, they were good, but I don't think they are a "must have." They are different that what I consider "traditional" crab cakes (the flat, round variety!)

I loved Kona. :thumbsup2 I had the macadamia mahi mahi, which I had never heard of and it was delicious. My husband had the char crusted medallions and appeared to enjoy it. There were either 2 or 3 thick slices.
You can go to a counter and see the desserts on offer - trouble is you want them all!! I had the creme brullee which was gorgeous. Can't remember what my husband had......we ate so much at so many places!!!!! What a way to spend a vacation! :teeth:
It's a definate for our next trip.

All I can add is that we love the Kona Cafe. It is one of the hidden treasures of WDW. Great food and Cast Members. Always look forward to eating at Kona.

The problem is, it's not hidden anymore! It was very tough to get into in early December. Make sure you make an ADR!

The char crusted medallions are just 2-3 small filets with a tasty rub on them-pretty much the same as a regular filet cut into 2 or 3 pieces. They were tender as can be. I highly recommend them or the teriaki steak. I think the medallions come with a mushroom sauce or demi glace but I am allergic to mushrooms so I had mine plain. They were delicious!!! The Kilaleau torte is to die for!!! In my opinion a must have!
