Convince why one is better than the other please! In lieu of a little park time, we are going to have a nice breakfast and get on the road home as early as we can. Which has better food? Better coffee? I will definitely need coffee that morning to prepare me for our 20 hour trip home! :thumbsup2

I am biased because I  everything Poly! So I say Kona because everyone needs to experience the pure deliciousness of Tonga Toast at least once.

I have eaten at Boma for breakfast, and while it was good it wasn't as good as Kona. Also, I am not a coffee drinker but I've heard the coffee at Kona is awesome. Not sure about the coffee at Boma.

I would choose Boma. Having eaten breakfast at both, I like Boma better because it is a buffet. I like Kona, but I don't care for the eggs there. Boma has a lot of choices and good coffee too.

Kona any day! I wasn't thrilled with Boma.... however, Kona I have made ADRs for breakfast twice next trip!

I enjoy the boma breakfast as much as any meal, and the coffee is good. I've not tried Kona yet, but I will eat at both restaurants on my next trip.

Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with either place....but Boma is not only my favorite breakfast at WDW but my favorite breakfast anywhere.

We took a trip with 15 family members in April and did breakfast at Boma as a replacement for our usual family Easter brunch at home. It's been almost 6 months and at every family gathering since our trip at least one family member comes up to me and says they still can't get over how great the breakfast at Boma was.

I always get the pressed pot of coffee at Kona and I believe Boma has that now as well. Overall, they both have pretty great coffee by Disney standards.

I love both so it's a tough choice. The coffee is better at Kona, however the selection is better at Boma, as it is a buffet.

Having eaten at both, we'd choose Boma. As a buffet, Boma offers a greater variety of foods, and the buffet is always kept fresh, hot, and clean. They have terrific juice and wonderful coffee, great traditional breakfast options, and additional buffet specialties like quinoa hot cereal, scrambled eggs with goat cheese, and slice roasted meats.

When we had b'fast at Kona, it was OK but the selections are far more limited. ALSO... the tonga toast... I know it's a huge favorite with many, but we couldn't eat it. It's simply too sweet for us for b'fast- kinda like ordering an ice cream sundae for a meal. Just too much! The waiter noticed we weren't eating the TT and replaced it with something more palatable without our asking; we were just going to leave it aside and share the remaining b'fasts but he insisted on replacing it, so we let him!

Look for us at Boma for b'fast on 10/11!!

Absolutely love Kona for breakfast. :lovestruc We have breakfast here every trip. The pineapple macadamia nut pancakes are awesome. I agree with a PP. Not a fan of the TT. Way too sweet. The coffee (french press pot) is really good, even their standard coffee is good. I believe it's the Kona blend not the Nescafe crap. :crazy2:

I've eaten at Boma & although it was good & has a large selection it's way too expensive for breakfast IMO. Four of us ate there last Aug & it cost $95! That's as much as I would pay for a nice dinner with alcohol. We won't be having breakfast at Boma anymore.

I love Kona. Its my fave breakfast in disney. They have amazing coffee, delish juice (lilikoi), and the tonga toast is truly remarkable. You cant go wrong with this place.

But it all depends on what you want....if you prefer buffets, then clearly kona isnt the place for you. If you like a nice sit down breakfast, i'd recommend this place to anyone in a heartbeat. (prices at kona is also a bonus!)

All depends on your preferences.

Thanks all! I probably should have mentioned that we are two vegetarians and a vegan! I wouldn't eat the TT at the POLY (I have a thing about foods that are dipped in eggs) but those pancakes sound amazing!! The price doesn't concern me too much. I think we may be leaning towards Boma because it is our favorite resort. Since we are not staying there this trip, it might be nice to end it there and buy some hummus and zebra domes for the ride home. I wonder if we can sneak in Kona at another point during the week? I need at least a month ad WDW just for the eating alone. :lmao:

Boma-You can move at your own pace as fast or slow as you want it to be-service is great. Food is wonderful and options are plentiful. I had wonderful coffee here and the scenery is relaxing, inviting and unique.

I'm a vegetarian, too. If it were me I would probably pick Boma. They already do such a great job with the vegetarian selections and I've read they are also pretty good when it comes to vegan selections. I'd venture to guess that you would probably have more options since Boma is a buffet. I do like Kona's breakfast. The fruit plate is very good. And it is quite filling. But as I said, I think your choices would be better at Boma. We will be trying Boma for breakfast next trip and I'm really looking forward to trying the vegetable breakfast pizza and the different hot cereals..

Pap (white corn meal), oatmeal, quinoa porridge; toppings included fruits, brown sugar and cinnamon.

Both are great IMHO, but for breakfast, I would choose based on the convenience to where I'm staying or going that day.

While Boma and Kona are my two favorite restaurants at Disney, I would hands down choose Kona for breakfast. (Dinner would be a different story, however.) Forget the Tonga Toast, the pineapple macadamia nut pancakes are my favorite. And, since I don't like Kenyan coffee at all, the press pot at Kona wins hands down for me.

The other advantage to Kona is the price. My family can eat for much less at Kona than paying Disney prices for a breakfast buffet.

you put my favorite sit down breakfast up against my favorite buffet breakfast

i would say kona. amazing coffee, and you can be served and relaxed before your big drive home.

DH really wanted to go to Boma so we went in July. It was okay, but we liked Tuskerhouse just as much and it was a character meal, we got to go in early for a pre rope drop meal and it was in a park. I would not go all the way out of the way for Boma unless you are staying at AKL. As for Kona- we have not tried it but since it is on the monorail should be easier if you are going to MK or Epcot.

We adore them both. The Kona press pot is the best by a long shot. I usually drink decaf, but that is a blend, and the press pot is 100% Kona. Do make that splurge, it is so worth it! Kona and Boma both have the exact same juice, they just call it different names. I went for the Tonga toast at Kona, but fell in love with the macadamia nut pancakes with pineapple sauce. Was also intrigued by the poached egg with smoked pulled pork hash, but we could only each order one thing! Boma has been a favorite for a long time; the African dishes really are special, and there is so much to choose from on the buffet. Then you can go out and look at animals :)

P.S. Olivias at Old Key West has the best grits, and I thought their banana bread French toast with rum sauce and coconut cream was also better than the Tonga toast!

I hate to be a pest, but the two juices are a little different.. The frunch has lemondade and papaya in it where the lilikoi juice does not and the lilikoi (or POG) juice has guava.

West African Frunch - a combination of lemonade, pineapple juice, guava juice, orange juice, and papaya juice.

Lilikoi Juice - passion fruit, orange and guava blend.
