I had ressies for Kona and just moved them to Ohana-I need to stop 2nd guessing my choices--did I make a mistake by changing??

Shoot! I've been trying to do the same thing for days and can't get a ressie at Ohana's to save my life!

I love Ohana (only been to the world twice - Ohana twice). We went to Kona for breakfast, which was good. I don't think you made a mistake. Did you check out menus? This might help you.

In going from Kona to Ohana, you sacrifice choice as you go from an open menu with individual selections to a pre-programmed meal for the entire party.

Is it bad? Depends on what the others in your party prefer.

IMO - NO WAY...no mistake. Kona is a nice restaurant with good food. Ohana's is a dining experience. If you want a calm, quiet dinner with the people you are dining with then stick with Kona's. If you want to experience something more upbeat and fun with a different twist then go to Ohana's. It is kind of loud and very entertaining. We love the food too. If you have kids in the party they will have fun too!

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
No mistake in my book. I just booked us at Ohana. We loved it last time and the kids had a blast. I agree with the PP's who said it depends on whether you like the menu or not. They have turkey--enough said for me!

We have eaten at both places, Ohana is more of the "Disney" experience, showy, fun, loud, but we think Kona has much better food. The food at Ohana is good, but the food at Kona is WONDERFUL. So whether you made a mistake changing depends on what you are looking for in your dining experience.

I have eaten at both and I enjoy both. They are different experiences. I see that you have 2 young ones in your party. I think it is a good choice for them. It is lots of fun for the kids. They do pineapple races and hoola hoops etc. It is lots of fun.
I thought the food was very good and our service, both times, was outstanding.
I think you should stop 2nd guessing yourself, go, and enjoy
Have a Great Trip

Ohana is one of the best restaurants at WDW, IMO, the atmosphere and overall experience is great. My wife and I never miss it when we're down (we'll be at Ohana the night of Nov 12).

The food isn't incredible, but it's good.

For breakfast? I would stick with Kona unless you have kids...Ohana is alot of fun but the menu at Kona is better

For dinner...well DH really likes Kona 100% better than Ohana but I prefer Ohana to Kona.

My personal opinion is that yes you made a BIG mistake. I LOVE KONA! I always go for my big birthday meal!

We did not like Ohana at all. The food was dry & smoked. Love Kona. But everybody likes what they like.

Couldn't have said it better myself!

That's the night that I will be there!!!!:goodvibesHow funny is that! I did look at the menu- I guess you would call me a cheap date I don't really care where I eat and DH was watching the Phillies last night and didn't look at the menus with me--thanks honey! But I really appreciate everyones answers-- I think that the kids will love it- it sounds like from what people have said, the menu does look good- and that's what I have heard that Kona does have good food but so does Ohana--but its the EXPERIENCE (dining) with Ohana--
thanks everyone! and it would be for dinner--sorry for not explaining that.

We used to love Kona and enjoy O'hana but don't think we will ever be back to Kona again after this past dec. I always get the Macadamia Mahi Mahi. It used to be fresh and wonderful. It was so yuck and raw in the middle I had to send it back. The next piece was very fishey but I just had some of DH steak and didn't worry over it. Kona used to be great but don't think that is the case anymore. O'hana has something for everyone and is fun.

We had dinner twice at Kona and Ohana during our August trip and without a doubt we both enjoyed Ohana over Kona.

Make sure you get the sticky wings they are fantastic!!! :thumbsup2

I don't think you made a mistake; we ate dinner at Kona in June and it was ok, but I don't see why it gets the praise it does. On our next far-distant trip I'll be trying for an Ohana ADR. The only thing we really loved at Kona was the wings which are also at Ohana anyhow!

Kona was good, but Ohana was awesome. The atomosphere, the yummy meats, and the dessert is among one of the best I have every had. Great choice, enjoy :thumbsup2

I agree Kona was good, but Ohana was great. Especially for the kids. I could hardly get them out of there when we were done with dinner. :goodvibes

We dined at both on our previous trip..Kona was by far our favorite!!!! I was disappointed in Ohana, the shrimp were hard, the meat was not cooked well done like I like it. The only thing we really enjoyed that night were the pot stickers and the wings, maybe we went on an off night:confused3
