I hadn't seen very many reviews/thoughts on the Kona Sushi Bar, so I thought I would post about our experience there a couple weeks ago. We (DF and I), ate here totally unexpectedly. We had planned on spending all day in Epcot and just snacking around the F&WF for dinner that night. But after an early morning Segway tour, we decided to take a hotel break around 4 and happened upon the Sushi Bar for dinner. Let me just say, that was one of my favorite meals of the whole trip! We walked right up and sat at the bar and watched our sushi being made. I got the volcano roll and Sam got the Tempura Shrimp roll that he had been eyeing all week. The presentation was so amazing on mine especially, that I hated to eat it- well, almost ;) The ingredients were all very fresh, and it was the perfect not too filling, but filling enough dinner. In fact, we loved it so much that we said we wished we had eaten there earlier in the week so we could have gone abck again! I hope they keep this place around, since I have read that it is still on a trial basis. Sorry I don't have pics- that was of course the one time I didn't have a camera with me :sad2:

Thanks for posting! :)
Is the Sushi bar near or part of Kona Cafe? :confused3

I'd like to know this too. DD loves sushi but I don't want that! Would it be something that DD could order and eat with us if we ate at the Kona Cafe?

I love sushi. Since I'm the only one in my family who eats sushi, I was hoping to pick some up there, but I hadn't heard any reviews yet about whether or not it was any good. Thanks for letting me know. At least now I won't have to hijack my family and make them sit through a meal where no one else would eat while at Epcot.

Note that the review is for the sushi bar in the Poly, NOT the sushi at the Japan Pavillion in Epcot.

There's a big difference. In Epcot, the sushi is basically from the supermarket. At the Poly, they actually have a sushi chef.

Yes, you can order from the Cafe menu at the sushi bar, or from the Sushi menu in the Cafe. Not every cast member knows this, but you can do it.

How about DDP credits? Can you use them for sushi? If so, does it count as a TS and how much sushi would you get for 1 TS credit?! TIA!

We ordered the Volcano Roll for an appetizer when we dined at Kona 2 weeks ago. It was fantastic. I agree with you - all the ingredients were fresh and it was delicious. Next time we are at Kona we plan on ordering sushi as our appetizer.

Hey MaggieW!

I love the sushi bar too! I ordered from it while at Kona Cafe with my family. We were on the deluxe plan, and the luau roll was my appetizer (deluxe plan)
