We had 6:05 reservations for Kona on Friday evening. We arrived at 6:00 and we were seated right away. We are four adults on the dining plan, but they allowed Dd10 to order from the kids menu.

I took our youngest dd to the windows to watch Wishes while my husband and older daughter ordered drinks. The girls were allowed to order smoothies for drinks on the dining plan.

What we ate:
Dd10- salad, macaroni and cheese, fruit salad, Pina Colada smoothie (she also took a few bites of my steak and some of my asparagas).

Dd16- Strawberry daquari, chicken wings (she *loved these!), shrimp and scallops, minus the scallops (she didn't enjoy these shrimp), chocolate fondue (she really enjoyed that!).

Dh- Iced tea, crab cakes (loved them), steak, potatoes and broccoli. He got the Kiddie Kone and gave it to Dd10.

Me- Iced tea, crab cakes (I could have eaten just these and been happy, they were to die for!!), steak, potatoes, asparagas. I got the chocolate fondue and shared with dh.

We were all soooo stuffed, we could barely enjoy our desserts. But, we managed! :rotfl:

It was our first time at Kona and we'd go back. We'd probably get just appetizers and desserts the next time though. Yum!!

Thanks for the review! I agree that Kona has great appetizers and desserts.

My first time at Kona was last week with a 5pm time. The meal was wonderful-sticky wings for appetizer, a wonderful pork chop and it was very thick and tasty, and the nut torte for dessert. I will certainly go there again.
Great service and food!:goodvibes

This gave me a chuckle. I do that alot normally. Just an appetizer and dessert. The best part of a meal!

We'll have to try Kona one of these trips. It gets such great reviews!

Yes! The crab cakes came with a salad so that is a fairly rounded meal! Then of course the chocolate fondue came with several fruits...that's practically health food right there! :rotfl:

Enjoyed reading your review ~ Thanx for posting.

For our family during ALL of our Disney vacations, Kona has proven to be consistent in providing an enjoyable dining experience. This is becoming a rare statement to be able to make as Disney's Table Service dining experience is gaining a reputation as a hit or miss experience.

I changed my ADR from somewhere in Epcot (Marakkesh maybe?) to Kona based partly on the raves here and I had never stepped foot in the Poly before so I wanted to see it. I was really disappointed. Our service was slow, then we felt rushed to make up for his lost time. The pot stickers were cold, shrimp and scallops entree were an appetizer portion - it was 3 fried shrimp and 3 small seared scallops. My husband was underwhelmed with his filet, but he had just eaten the filet at the Brown Derby 2 days before so it may have been unfair to compare the 2. I didn't care for the chocolate macadamia tart at all - there was barely a trace of macadamia to be found - it was essentially the corn syrup goo that's in a pecan pie minus the nuts. I probably won't be back - maybe just for an appetizer and a drink with a little umbrella in it. ;)

I just made an adr here for my upcoming vacation. I canceled one at Coral Reef to go here instead, based on all of the reviews I have read.
