Yep... the Macadamia-Pineapple pancakes are wonderful! I had them this past May, and would definitely order them again. They were so good that I sometimes make them at home now, too.
When I ordered these at Kona, mine came with the fresh pineapple spooned over the top of the stack, along with some yummy Macadamia nut butter. The crushed Macadamia nuts themselves were mostly layered between the stacked pancakes, with only a very few (if any?) actually cooked into the pancakes. Presentation may vary, depending who specifically is in the kitchen that morning.
I did find the pancakes rather filling, so plan accordingly. (I had them on our departure morning, rather than a morning where we planned to hit the parks from dawn until dusk.) If you feel that you might prefer a 'light' breakfast at Kona, I found the melon and yogurt appy to be an excellent option. The fresh melons are served in very thin slices, and are absolutely delicious.
From what I remember they had the mac nut butter on the side and the pineapple sauce on the side and it was the best thing I ever ate in my life. I wish I ordered a full order instead of the 2 small ones that came with the Kahuna platter. Cannot wait to go back, 58 days!
This is great! I saw the menu and knew I had to order those, so we're going to Kona for the first time in May. Thanks for the info! I'm looking forward to it already and it'll remind DH and I of our honeymoon in Hawaii.
