Kona or 'Ohana's for us?

Should our family go to Ohana or Kona Cafe???

  • Go with the Kona - you know you liked it!

  • Go with Ohana - do something different!

  • Beats me - I'm as indecisive as you!!

We will be staying at the Poly for only 4 nights (but only 3 dinners) and need help deciding if I should book the Kona Cafe or 'Ohana's. I would love to do both but we would also like to do Boma and R&C, leaving only one night. We have been to the Kona before and really enjoyed our dinner. Very good food and good service. I'm torn since I would like to try Ohana but know we liked the Kona. Also DH is vegetarian and would need a special entree at Ohana. Does anyone know what the veggie entry might be?

Our family constitues:
DH - Vegetarian - might have issues with the display of meat but flexible otherwise
Me - not Vegetarian - interested in trying something new
DD9- let's just say she eats cheese!
DD4- loves pasta

Which do you think we should do?

husband would have to look at giant skewers of cooked meat being carried around and have nothing on the normal menu but potato, salad ,the wonton chips and veggies( unless he eats shrimp). i do think they probably have a veggie offering as i have heard of kids getting mac an cheese there. truthfully we thought the meat was not very good there and i would probably go to Kona if i wanted better food. but i just don't really see the draw oh Ohana anyway

Could you do Ohana for breakfast, and Kona Cafe for dinner? My kids loved the breakfast at Ohana's. Then you could go to both places.

I don't think I would be leaving DH with just kids food and sides. (athough he does like a good PB&J!) I have read posts of other getting grilled veggies and tofu or a dish from Kona ....but then we could just go there!

We are doing Ohana for breakfast on our last day. DD9 is excited about seeing Stitch!

We had dinner at both places on our last trip. DD14 is a veg and I mentioned that to the waiter who, with no hesitation, assured us he would bring her a special something. It was a stir fried vegetable which, IIRC, was very similar to a dish served at Kona. I suspect they brought it over from there. It was tasty!

Kona is our new favorite restaurant at WDW. The service is great the food is great and the atmoshphere was great. And there was no wait!! How can you beat that! My kids LOVED it too- the desserts did it for them. I don't know if your DH will eat fish but at Kona that Macadamia Mahi is to die for.

I think Kona is the better restaurant, but if you haven't tried 'Ohana, you definitely should!

Thanks for helping me out. Kona has the slight edge. Hummm... What to do....

I'd say try Ohanas. I ate at both places this last trip, and liked Ohana better. I don't know about the vegetarian thing, but I did really like the salad and potatoes, and also the bread pudding.

We have eaten at both places and think Kona is the better of the two.

While I really enjoyed O'hana, the meat tended to be dry and overcooked. But the evening view of Wishes at the Magic Kingdom was awesome.

My wife and I shared the filet mignon and the coconut chicken at Kona, and was truely the best meal we had while on vacation.

Kona is now our favorite place to eat.

My DH, DD and I were at Disney the week of Oct. 16th. My DH's favorite place to go for dinner has been Ohana until this visit. They have changed their menu and dessert and we were very disappointed. We loved the huge shrimp and all the extra bowls of goodies on the turntable. That has all changed, in place of shrimp they give you sausage and in place of the fresh pineapple dipped in hot carmel sauce they give you bread pudding. Our service wasn't that good either this time. I asked when they changed the menu since we had been there is May of this year and the menu included shrimp and the pineapple dessert and they indicated the first week of October. Definitely Ohana has lost my DH's first place restaurant pick.
