Kona or Boma for Dinner?

We just came back this week and did Kona, it was very good. We were supposed to go to Boma too but skipped it, too much food! I am for sure going to hit them both on the next trip

We have never tried Boma, but I can say that Kona is wonderful. The food is delicious, a nice selection to choose from, and you get alot! The desserts are yummy!!!

Tough choice. Both are very good. I would say depends if you want Buffet or just to order what you want? popcorn::

I love both, but I would pick Boma for dinner. Like the PP, whether or not you want a buffet or TS could make your choice for you.

Have never been to Boma, but I really like Kona! Ate there twice on our trip two weeks ago. Great seafood chowder and wings.

Also, FYI, the bar at the Poly (next to O'Hana's) has absolutely fabulous lettuce wraps! Sadly, we only discovered them on our last night. Great grilled chicken, shredded carrots and cucumbers, some kind of Asian slaw, and peanut sauce. I practically licked the plate! (Plus, they were only $8!) Big enough for an appetizer or light snack for 2, or a meal for one. Try 'em!

Thanks for all of the options. Keep them coming! We are only going for a long weekend this time so I am trying to squeeze everything in. :)

We have been to both and absolutely loved both. Here are the pros and cons

Boma-
Pro's
Beautiful Resort at AKL
Delicious food
Different food(in a good way)
Wait staff and kitchen staff outstanding
Great Atmosphere
Abundant variety of foods

Con's
Can be time consuming to travel to AKL without a car
Can become noisy

Kona
Pro's
Easier to get to then Boma
Delicious food
beautiful resort (Poly)

Con's
VERY NOISY
waitstaff not as attentive as those at BOMA (just our experience)
food not as authentic as BOMA

I would actually try to both as both were high on our list of "must do again" but if you can really only choose one ,I would go with BOMA for the authentic atmosphere and food! Good Luck:goodvibes

Both are very good. If you want the variety of an excellent buffet and are very hungry I suggest Boma. Otherwise, Kona might be a better choice. The food is very good and I prefer the desserts there even though you get only one choice. :goodvibes

Boma and Kona are must-do's for every trip :) But if we could only do one it would definitely be Boma!
A few comparisons (IMO) ...

wait staff ~ the nod goes to Boma

atmosphere ~ not *great* at either one, but Boma has some nice areas. AKL itself is far more striking in the lobby area than the Poly

noise level
~ I find Kona is usually noisier

food ~ great at both restaurants; depends upon whether you want a buffet or not

Both are great but if haven't been to Boma--that should be the one you choose, IMO, just because it is SOOOO different from anything you can get at home. It is an "experience"!

Boma and Kona are 2 ov my most fav restraunts at disney and will be dining at both on our next trip! Out ov the 2 i would say i prefered kona...slightly, but i read on this forum that recently the menu changed and they took off a couple of our favourite dishes so that cud make a diffrence.... but probly not cuz they sill have thoose yummy looking deserts :) and the new items sound prity gud!
