I need your expert opinions! We book dining this weekend and we keep going back and forth-

Dinner-
Kona Cafe or Ale and Compass?

July trip

Thank you!

I've not been to Kona in years so can't offer an opinion there but really enjoy Ale & Compass. Great burger, Parker House rolls appetizer is phenomenal. Whole Boardwalk area is beautiful at night.

As someone who almost always stays at BC, I do think a stroll around the Poly is worthwhile, I'd just go for Dole Whip and a pop into the gift shop, but would definitely choose A&C over Kona.

Thank you all so much for your input. We have had hit or miss meals at Kona as well. Ale and Compass will be a new one for us.

Depending when you're going and if they open, the Luau gives a better Polynesian experience if that's what you're looking for. Ale and Compass will be a first for us this upcoming trip, but I've heard nothing but good things.

I had the Kona braised short rib from Kona in March for the first time, and it was wonderful. I was back there again last Thursday and had the braised short rib again, and it was even better this time because I asked for broccoli instead of broccolini. The mashed potatoes are fantastic! The food was very consistent.

I just made a reservation for that meal. So, I'm thrilled you shared your experience. I'm staying at GF- so it's an easy walk over.

We usually eat at Kona once a trip because my kids like it but I think it tends to be mediocre. Never bad, never great. I'd go to either one but would prefer A&C.

We have eaten at Kona many times and enjoyed our meals but our last trip was years ago and I have certainly seen more and more bad reviews. The menu at Ale & Compass looks worth a try.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. I find I am much happier when I can swap out the sides to something I will really enjoy. I would be tempted to get double mashed next time! And I finally had a lapu lapu (minus the pineapple) while I was there, too.

I have to figure out how to swap out the sides when mobile ordering because I still haven't been able to book an ADR for Fourth of July when we will actually be staying at Poly...

I booked Kona in two weeks for three reasons:
1- To be able to get in the Poly, walk around a bit. Enjoy the resort and miss Trader Sams.
2- We have never been to it, I like to try new things
3- We are staying off site and the, get an uber to Contemporary for drop off and walk to MK trick, seems to be not working right now. So we can just hop on a boat to MK right after dinner.
