Well, not trying to start an uproar here, I was Kona's biggest fan but now for the first time we are not eating dinner there in December.

The Mahi Mahi and Kona chowder is my husbands favorite there! So sad I was just heart broken to tell him the news. He didn't take it well at all. When they changed the bread it was tough to take but we got over it, it was just the bread, but taking our two most favorite things off the menu

We will still be eating breakfast there. Lets just hope some brainiac in menu management doesn't get the bright idea to take the pressed pot of Kona coffee and Tonga toast off the menu:sad2:

See the Kona got bumped up big time this trip. Their Chicken Stir Fry was just what I needed after eating burgers and chicken sandwiches for a week.

Love Kona!

We loved the Kona in August, and even though we didn't eat (or weren't planning to eat) the mahi mahi or the chowder, it's still a shame and a suprise that they took them off the menu... I thought the mahi mahi was very popular!

Just curious, what did you replace Kona with? And was the Mahimahi and chowder the only thing you liked on the menu? This is our first time to the restaurant (and WDW) and from the recent postings here I'm beginning to think this Mahi dish was the only really good thing at the restaurant.
I have an ADR in December and I'm really looking forward to trying the steamed Ono. I like the idea of the stirfry, but the sauce looks a little too sweet for me.

Dis Ohana - it was our first time to Kona in August and we absolutely loved it - and neither of us had the mahi mahi. Kona was our favourite restaurant of all!

We had the Crab Cakes (some of the best I have had), DBF had the Teriyaki Steak (which he still goes on about today). I had the Filet Mignion which was lovely and very tender, and we both had the Kiluea Torte (chocolate, need I say more!!)

The only thing I would say when ordering steak, is make sure you order above what you want. I asked well-done and I would say mine was a medium... however, I tried it and it was great!

I know that Mahi Mahi and the Kona Chowder was not the only great thing on the menu, but the top three for us were

1. Mahi Mahi
2. Kona Chowder
3. That Bread with the olive oil dipping sauce

Those items were just very unique, the bread had these spices in it that together with the olive oil dipping sauce,

The Kona chowder my husband could have had for Breakfast Lunch and Dinner. I too thought the Mahi Mahi was very popular.

To us its kind of like LeCellier taking away the cheese soup and bread sticks and adding something else it its place.

WE LOVED Kona's in Sept ate there twice that week. 1st time I had a shrimp something huge SHRIMP!! 2nd time DH and I both had the filet mignion next time I'll order mine unseasoned other than salt an pepper there was a seasonin on my filet that made me itch really really bad that night soon as I ate the meat I started itchin rather than track down what I was allergic to I'll order mine salt an pepper only. Other than that WE LOVED KONA's

We found Kona for dinner a hidden gem, it's now our favorite, so much in fact that we're not doing La Cellier this trip.

Please say it isnt so! :scared1: :scared1: The mahi mahi has gone? It was my best entree during our WDW stay. :sad1:
Has the bread gone or is there a new type of bread? Im off for a lie down and a weep. :headache:

The bread has changed too to sweet bread with a sweet butter. Its good, but not the same as the other with the olive oil sauce.

We're still crying here! We really look foward to the Kona being in the same resort we are staying and our favorite food! We will go back I'm sure but will miss our favorites:sad1:

They had my favorite Ceasar salad. I know it sounds nuts but it was the best. Anyway we always go but are not this trip as I am PROTESTING! Why did they change so much?
