Kona instead of Ohana?

Ohana is my favorite. Even though I'm a vegetarian, I can eat plenty of the foods that they bring out. Also, they make me a special vegetarian entree if I want it. Not to mention that dessert is to die for! Most of the time, however, I'm with meat eaters so it all works out between us.

THIS TIME, I'm taking my friend who has never been. She's also a vegetarian. I told her to pick out some restaurants that sound interesting to her so we can start to make ADR's. She asked what my favorites were when she was looking at the menus on AllEars. When I told her about Ohana she sounded surprised.

I think it might be different with TWO vegetarians at a place like Ohana, so I'm thinking about trying Kona. What do you think? I've only been there for breakfast so I don't know much about dinner. I'm just going to miss that bread pudding!

Thanks for any advice/opinions!

I loved Kona! Our dinner was very good. Tough choice though.

What do they serve at Ohana for vegetarians? If they serve a veggie meal there then stick with Ohana. The bread pudding is so worth it.

Thanks for letting me know that you enjoyed dinner! I might as well try Kona seeing as how I have been to Ohana on every single trip! I think I remember reading something on here about being able to order to bread pudding from Kona even though it isn't on their menu.

Plus, the times for Ohana ADR's are ridiculous so I'd be planning my whole day around my Ohana ADR instead of the other way around, LOL!

We have had breakfast and dinner at Kona and loved both meals. Do they have good choices for vegetarians??? Do you eat fish? My Dh had the mahi mahi, which they serve warm not hot. Dh likes his food piping hot so he was a little disappointed, but other than that he liked it.

I also am huge O'hana lover. We try to get there every trip. I equally love the breakfast and dinner my family prefers breakfast but they did like dinner.

I'm in total agreement about the bread pudding.....we asked for a refill last time. I felt so sick when we left but man was it good. In future I just want a very large bucket of bread pudding. :lmao:

I've eaten at both. While I am not a vegetarian, I like 'Ohana better. Service better, better theming, etc. I had a steak at Kona, so I can't offer advice on their vegetarian entrees but if you liked what 'Ohana offered before I'd stick with that. One caveat: 'Ohana's much harder to get into and a much longer wait from check in time til you are seated. I've waited up to 45 minutes WITH an ADR and IMO Disney time is too valuable to be wasted waiting for a seat! And a wait that long is not good with children!
If you're both adults the wait might not be too bothersome, you could have some Lapu-Lapu's in the bar. :goodvibes

Funny....we've waited far longer to get into Kona than O'hana. :confused3 The last time we were at Kona the restaurant was half empty and we still had to wait to get a table. We arrived about 10 minutes before our ADR and we waited that 10 plus about 8 more.

Our favorite place to eat in WDW is 'Ohana. That being said - we are not vegetarians. We have only done Kona for breakfast. Not sure if you checked out Kona's menu for dinner but here it is. This will let you know if there is something there for you to eat.

Thank for posting the menu Linda! I wonder if they can make me the same vegetarian entree they made me at Ohana, since it is next door?

I just checked out their lunch menu and it looks really good. I think you were talking about dinner but their lunch salads sounds great. We might have to try this when we are down in May.

I did read not too long ago that someone subbed tofu for the chicken in the noodle dish at Kona. It still might be worth a try to go there...it seems they do have a lot to choose from.

So I never asked you...are you ovo-lacto-pesce vegetarian? If so...the world is your oyster...literally.:thumbsup2
