Kona for lunch? or just go to Epcot?

I was thinking on eating at Kona for lunch on my arrival day, in case our room isn't ready. But, it would stink if we got done and the room still was not ready. --unliess the lunch at Kona is really good! Any opinions?

Anyone know what the teryaki fried steak is? -is it normal steak?

If we just check-in and then head to Epcot, we could do lunch there...which would you do, Kona or just go to Epcot? Any good lunch spots in Epcot (TS), Mexico's menu looks good.

Any suggestions? I'm undecided.

This is so funny cuz DH and I were just talking about this last night. We are going to the Poly next weekend and I added another night but we are staying at the CSR. So we thought we would sleep in and head to the Poly around 11 or so and if our room isnt ready eat lunch at Kona!

We tried to do this last Oct but chilled by the pool instead. The menu at Kona looks so good!

If we dont do this we are going to Epcot (see we are so alike) and have lunch at China (DHs fav) and Tangierine Cafe (my fav) before our late dinner at Marrakesh.

I take it you are staying at the Poly? If so, you can always leave your bags with the bell staff, have lunch and if your room isn't ready you could swim, take a walk around the resort or take the boat over to the MK.

Kona is wonderful. I love their desserts and they have some really unique items on the menu. I also love San Angel and highly recommned that one as well. So I guess I would do both!

Its really just a matter of what you want to do on your arrival day: hit the parks or relax and get acquainted with your resort. After a flight, its nice to be able to eat and relax before you head to the parks in my opinion.

I would be picking between those.

Konas is great, but for lunch, you are in and out in less than a hour. This would not kill a lot of time, especially if they wont let you in until proper check in (most likely not the case, but you never know).

I love San Angel, but Im a Mexican food lover to begin with. Macho Nachos at the local 99 excites me!

Nina Dragons is good, not your typical Americanized Chinese food. While I still am suffering from Olympic fever, just thinking about this place makes my mouth water.

Under ordinary circumstances, Marrekesh would not appeal to me, but given the chance to try something new, I would go for it. Ive been there once and probably would go back only for the fact that my chances of having Morroccan food outside of Disney are slim to none.

I went to Rose and Crowne for dinner once. I did not like it at all. It was edible, nothing at all stood out as "Oh, I cant wait to come back".

Kona Cafe is one of my favorites for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have never had a bad meal there. We make it a priority to eat there anytime we are at Disney.

I think Kona is great and it would be nice to just relax and enjoy your resort. But if you wanted to go to Epcot anyway don't go to Rose and Crown - go to the CS fish and chips shop just outside it - incredible light and flaky and wonderful fish. Or Tangerine is marvelous if you like something different - I loved their food and you can sit out on the patio and people watch while you eat. I am from Texas and so am particular about my Mexican food - San Angel doesn't have it. They do have great nachos -

We had R&C for lunch once and wished we had eaten at the CS instead. We were seated outside (it was February) and had to chase off the begging birds. Also, the green peas that were on the plate reminded me of the ones from the Banquet frozen TV dinners of my childhood (circa 1970)

If you are just getting to the Poly, the Kona is a nice place to sit and enjoy the ambiance--you can kind of people watch and see people coming/going. If your room isn't ready, you can walk around the grounds. There's a lot to see, providing you haven't stayed there already! You could go down to the little beach area and just hang out in the beach chairs for a while if you need to kill time. I agree, never a bad meal at Kona. The food is consistently yummy.
