Kona Cafe'

We had an awesome meal at Kona except when my dd3 threw up all over me while my DW was walking my other dd1!! After cleaning her up in the bathroom some nice guy offered me his T shirt and I took it. Gotta love nice people!! I still feel bad for everyone who had to eat in there afterwords.

I'm getting so excited to eat at Kona!! We'll be there for my birthday dinner, so I am really glad it sounds so wonderful!

I prefer lunch because my favorite menu item there, the Asian Noodle Bowl, is on the lunch menu. You get a large portion even at lunch and I think Kona is a value by WDW standards.

OP--thanks for asking this question, I had the same one! When we ate there it was after traveling all day, we were starving, and we had just ferried across the lake in a torrential downpour. But it was our very first day on Disney property and we LOVED the food. Kona was the only ADR my husband requested for next trip and we will go back!

I have never been on the DP until this past October when I was on the FDP. Kona is always a stop for a trip. DP or not. Just a little upset they did away with the peanut chicken plate lunch :guilty:

My DH and I had a date night here last February. We liked the restaurant a lot. The only issue we had was how slow the kitchen was that night. We would gladly go back though for my favorite entree anywhere, the TUNA OSCAR!

We had:
The Shrimp Tempura roll from the sushi bar. I LOVE sushi and a good shrimp tempura roll is something I crave, but this one wasn't very good. It had a soy wrapper instead of the nori, so didn't have as much flavor. There was mango in it too which just made it too sweet for this girl. I prefer savory, give me avocado anytime!

Dh had the potstickers and thought they were just ok. He ate them though and he's picky.

I had the Tuna Oscar! OH MY GOD GOOD! I just about died and then licked the plate, so yummy! The tuna was peppery and delicious and the wasabi hollandaise was delicious with enough edge to make it really interesting. I wish there was more of the lump crab tempura, that was a yummy little tidbit. The green tomatoes were different but good, I'd never had them before.

Dh's Teriaki steak - this was ok but too sweet for him. He also likes savory and found it a little too overpowering. He wished he had ordered the Tuna Oscar after he tried a bite.

MMM, and that bread and butter! YUM

We didn't get dessert because the kitchen was so slow and we were so tired! We got our ADR that afternoon by the way and watched Wishes from the Poly beach before dinner. Great date night!

We love Kona too! The bread, sticky wings and teriyaki beef are my favorites! We were there last in June and go on most of our trips. The food has always been great.
I Have to get on the Kona bandwagon ,Back years when I was reading up for our very first trip everybody loved Kona and recommended the
Tonga toast ,so every year since my son and I split Tonga toast ,
I love the sticky wings and Asian Noodles -
Does anybody remember ? I think they where called Coco puffs,
sorta like 5 or so mini chocolate cream puffs -
they were very popular at the time too
mmmmmmmm'

I love, love, love Kona! We decided to skip it during our trip at the beginning of this month to try a new restaurant, and I'm still kicking myself for missing it!

I did the Kona Sushi Bar on October 14th, but ordered an appetizer from the Kona menu. It was the crab cake appetizer, and I thought they were fantastic. It's been a while since I had a dinner there, otherwise, but I thought it was fantastic.

At least the quality of the appetizer made me want to eat at Kona again. The sushi was pretty good, too.

The menu has changed since 2004, but on that trip, we ended up eating lunch at Kona 3 times in one week! It was the food discovery of the trip. Don't know how the crowds are now, but this was early Dec. and it was a walk-up for lunch every time we went.
