We have never been to this restaurant. Please share your experience and if you can highly recommend the place. What did you eat when you went there? Thank you

YUMMMMM! I love Kona Cafe! We've had breakfast there for all of our trips. Never dinner, but I have seen some yummy pics on here of the dinner stuff. I always have the Tonga Toast...but DH has the big breakfast platter, the Big Kahuna or something like that, and he loves it. It's so good, we try to get there at least twice in each visit!

Wow, twice in each visit! It must be good :thumbsup2 I was thinking of trying Kona to try the tonga toast

BTW, there's never a wait to get into the place either. It's a nice way to start your day. We normally catch a bus to MK, jump on the monorail and take that over to the Poly! it's a great way to start any day at Disney! Plus, I love the smell of the Poly....maybe one day we'll stay there :lovestruc

It's soooooooooo good! Kona is DH's favorite in all the World. We love the sticky wings and the Kona Kone for dessert.

We've only been for dinner, but I hear breakfast is good too!

The sticky wings are excellent, and the Kona Kone is very fun. The main courses are really good as well. Much more relaxed than Ohana in terms of fighting the crowd.

Thank you all for your response. I'm looking more for lunch or dinner b/c we have alot of character meals for breakfast. I'm looking when we spend a day in MK for a lunch alternative or dinner. I would love to hear more, what others ordered for lunch/dinner. Thanks again

Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes :worship: I'm ordering them again when we go in 3 weeks :cool1:  :yay: I hope I can still button my pants by the end of our trip :confused3 :rolleyes1

We went there in June for the first time at dinner. It was wonderful (service and food). I had the rib eye and DH had the teriyaki steak (?new york?). He loved his and I loved mine. We both had the Kona Kone for dessert which was fun and good.

I've never eaten at Kona, but have heard great things so we booked it for breakfast for this trip! However, it's not looking promising that we will get into Ohana so we may make a trip there for dinner as well!

What's the Kona Kone that everyone keeps talking about??

I insist on having my birthday breakfast there now. It is so wonderful. If you get late ressies like 11 AM for breakfast which is their last breakfast seating and ask nicely you can also get dessert too. Their desserts are each more wonderful than the next. Hubby loves the Kona Cone and I get the creme brule with the grilled banana. I have also had the fruit with the dipping chocolate. Yumm. As far as breakfast goes the must have item is the tonga toast. Hubby has actually learned to make a mock up version of it for me here at hom for half the cost.

For lunch I have not met a bad thing on the menu but my personal fave is the sweet and sour noodle dish. That was tasty. This has been a repeat place to eat. The only meal I have not eaten here is dinner. Go for it. You will love it. AS far as the coffee goes if you and your travel companion do not drink a lot and you want to experience the press coffee go for it. If you drink a lot of coffee their cheap coffee is almost as good and half the price with unlimited refills so that is up to you.

Disclaimer: I have not been since 2004, and I know the menu has changed since then (and most of what I had is gone now), but...
Kona was the Food Discovery for me on that trip. We had breakfast once and lunch three (3) times there in one week (we were staying at the Poly). My breakfast was the famous Tonga Toast :thumbsup2 , my lunches were the deli sandwich on the menu at that time (Hawaiian? Asian? can't remember what they called it), the mahi sandwich, and Hawaiian pizza, and all :thumbsup2 . My Dad had the seafood bisque more than once, which was great. Sweet potato chips were a nice change from regular chips. Desserts were awesome, too - they had a cheesecake thing I loved that may not be there anymore. In December, it was always easy to get in, and was a relaxing break from the parks.

Just want to warn you about the one negative re Kona. It is totally open to the lobby and is VERY NOISY. That does not keep us from returning but it was a shock the first time we walked into the Poly. For some reason I expected a deluxe resort to be more quiet.

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I went on a weekend trip with some girlfriends last year. I was in charge of the planning and we wanted on TS meal. Out of all my favorites, I picked Kona. My family and I (DD9, DS7, DH) did it the past two trips and I will book it for our trip this Nov.

I love the noodle dish (very similar to the "new" noodles at O'hana). My DH, who is not a steak person, loved the steak, DD9 the mahi mahi kids' dinner, and my DS7 the kids' pizza.

You will not be disappointed!

Make sure you save room for dessert!

Ditto. I love the Macadamia Pinapple Pancakes. I went to Kona with my dad during our last trip and he still talks about it all the time. He got the Tonga Toast and I was lucky because he shared a bit of it with me. He wants me to book 2 or 3 breakfast ADR's for Kona for our next trip.

I've been to the Kona Cafe for breakfast, lunch and dinner and have NEVER had a bad meal!

The salads are very fresh and any entree I've had was good. The dessert selection is also pretty darn good so make sure you save room! Last time I had a banana chocolate creme brulee that was excellent.

We love it for dinner! Kona serves my favorite dish on Disney property (so far), the Tuna Oscar.

They serve delicious Hawaiian bread and macadamia nut butter. Yummy!

Their desserts are Coconut Cream Kiki Tart, Kilauea Torte, No Sugar Added Apple Stacker, Banana-Chocolate Crème Brûlée with a Chocolate Spiral, Chocolate Fondue, and the ever-popular Kona Kone.

Here's a view of the inside:

From my experience, I would encourage you to give it a try! We all love it... some of us are seafood fans and some of us are not. But they always seem to have something for everyone.

Another fan of the Tuna Oscar here! Like PP, best meal I've had on property!

The wings are AMAZING too!

I have our first ADR for our trip at Kona (first visit there, too) and was wondering about the Samoan. I know one of us will get the Tonga toast but was wondering if this was worth getting or should I stick to the Big Kahuna? Our ressie is for 10:15 so I wonder if we'll be able to sweet talk them into dessert:rolleyes1.
