We are staying at the Poly for part of our visit in Feb (1st - 5th) will I need to make a ADR for breakfast or at that time of year could I chance a walk up at 7.30am?

Usually at 7:30 in less busy times you can walk up. Weekends seem busier.

But I always make a reservation even if it's last minute.

Enjoy!

I'd say you could chance a walk up, but if you're staying at any Disney property, the front desk Concierge can make any ADRs you want for your entire trip. Any Guest Relations in the parks or Downtown Disney can do it, too.

I'm taking the "I'm staying at the Poly for part of our trip" to mean that you'll be either at another resort or offsite. As long as you can get to a front desk Concierge or a Guest Relations location ahead of time, it should be fairly easy to get an ADR just in case.

Normally, the first week of February would be a really slow time of year, but you never know if the new promotion for Jan - June of 2009 will attract more people....especially the Jan - Mar trip dates with $200 bonus gift card.

I think you could probably take your chances as a walk up, but I favor the "better safe than sorry" plan. :)

We had a 7:30am ADR in September and were the only people on the left side of the restaurant. :)

You can also just call from the room.:goodvibes In the Disney hotels, just push the button that says dining or WDW dining.

I think the poster means to walk up while staying at the Polynesian.

7:30 is probably pretty safe, but anytime after 8 the place is usually getting quite full.

Better safe than sorry. While at Kona last year, I witnessed an angry guest *yelling* about how much he was paying to stay at the resort and couldn't eat in its restaurant.
