We have reservations for Kona Cafe for dinner one night in November- we could not get Chef Mickeys or 1900 Park Fare and we have to be around GF as we have a fireworks cruise we are going on that night and have to be there for 8pm- Has anyone eaten there? Please let me know where it is?

We will be dining there for the first time later in the month. We were very disappointed with Chef Mickeys on our last visit and chose Kona instead. Does anyone have recommendations for dinner?

Kona Cafe is located at the Polynesian. We've eaten there and the food is very good. The creme brulee is delish!

We ate at Kona's last trip a few weeks back and our food was excellent. Check allears.net for menus. Everything we got was fabulous. Enjoy.

We love Kona but if you can't get in there why not try the Grand Floridian Cafe? We have not eaten there yet but have an ADR in Dec. and I'm excited after reading many good reviews :). Regarding Kona, I'd die for those chicken wings, they are that good!

I ate at Kona Cafe for dinner in August after not being able to get into Ohana and we were very disappointed!:sad2: I do not think I will ever go back and definitely recommend booking any desired ressie far in advance. If you are looking for a buffet out of the parks try Boma in Animal Kingdom -- LOTS of choices!

We have been to Kona for dinner several times and really enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. Keep your reservation!
Our kids loved the sticky wings, the steaks were good, the pork chop-yummmm
Deserts- don't pass up on them!

We ate there on September 27, and it was awesome! I ordered the shrimp and scallops with (substituted) mashed potatoes and the kilauea torte for dessert. My DH ordered the macadamia and chive-crusted mahi mahi and the banana-chocolate creme brulee for dessert. Some other people in our group also ordered the sticky wings, and my DH sampled those. (I'd post pictures, but I haven't put them on my blog yet.)

Everything was so good. Out of all our TS meals, I'd have to say that it was my favorite. My mouth is watering right now just thinking about it! The atmosphere is wonderful, too.

We ate there twice our last trip 2 weeks ago. The food and service were very good.

Can someone please describe the atmosphere? My sister & I are thinking about trying Kona for the first time in Feb. The few pics I have seen of Kona make it look like it is open to a lot of people traffic walking by?? I could have this wrong :confused3 Thanks so much!

We ate at Kona for dinner back in September and it was one of our favorite meals of the trip. Everything was delicious, the service was great. I had the Teriyaki steak and it was good!

I am curious to what was wrong. DH and I have eaten there at least 10 times in the past 5 years and we have never had a bad meal. We always have the best service of any restaurant as well. Kona is like our Home restaurant. Maybe they had an off night? Though to be honest that has never happened to us in all the times we have been there?

JoAnnPan: As you can see from the pics, it has the look of a coffee shop. Which shouldn't suprise, since it WAS a coffee shop. It's now (looks and atmosphere anyway) a doctored up version of the old Coral Isle Cafe.

Even though its open, I never felt like I was in a coffee shop. Request a table in the back away from the walking traffic. This was our best meal this trip, and we would definetely go back....

Had a meal there in Nov 2006 and it was excellent............we are booked for this November as well!

We ate at the Kona Cafe in April and were very pleased with the food I had the filet and DBF had the Tuna Oscar. Both of our desserts were great but I can't remember what they were right now (Bananas Foster something?). The atmosphere was okay. If you sit in the back or against the wall the noise from the lobby isn't too bad. The only downside or our experience was our server. She was the only server that we had on our vacation who didn't seem to have the Disney ethic for treating their guests. She wasn't bad, just abrupt and impersonal. She delayed in bringing us our Lapu Lapus and served them with our entrees so we asked her to take the entrees back until we had enjoyed our cocktails. The entrees were taken back without a problem and when the time came we got fresh ones. Because of the excellent food we will go back again.

We love the Kona. The food is really good and we like it a lot better than the GF Cafe. We were very disappointed in our lunch at the GF Cafe in June.
