8/11 Lunch at Kona: We had the Kona Club Sandwich and Island Chicken Sandwich with a couple of iced teas

8/14 Dinner at Kona: We had the Crab Cakes and Pot Stickers to start, entrees were the Prime Rib and Filet Mignon; we shared the Apple Brown Betty for dessert and did the wine pairing.

I love this place - this is my 19th onsite trip and Kona's is one of my favorites - food and service wonderful.

how were the crab cakes? never ate there, but DH loves crab cakes - might consider kona if they're good!

Glad you enjoyed Kona, it is one of our favs.

Looking forward to Kona next month! Now to decide between the WONDERFUL filet, or to try the terriyaki steak or macadamia mahi-mahi... :scratchin

We'll be there SUnday night. Thanks for the great review. I changed the ADR to Kona from OHana, and I think it was a good choice. :woohoo:

Well now we went back for breakfast – macadamia pineapple pancakes to die for! This place is really a hidden gem – they consistently deliver on food quality and service.

Suzimar57: Crab Cakes were very good; but that being said just back from Flying Fish and these were even better and at Narcoossee’s I had halibut with a crab crust that was fabulous. I would be more than happy to repeat any of these meals…….next week I’ll be back to working 12 hr. days and having Cheerios before bed…….LOL

Just ate here for the first time this week. I think it was my favorite meal of the trip (some sort of salad, almond chicken and chocolate torte). I felt when we first walked into the Poly it was kind of noisy with the man singing and all. I actually thought of leaving but I am so glad we stayed. Do you know a website that might have some of the receipes? thanks

We are eating at Kona for the first time soon, looking forward to it even more now.:)

We had one horrible meal there (poor service, spoiled food) but went back because it used to be our fav. Well, the restuarant was amazing when we went back and we were so glad it was. It must have been an issue with our server because Kona was right back to outstanding after that.:cool1:

Just back from 10 days and had to jump in to say that Kona was the surprise delight of our trip! From the crab cakes to the chicken wings, from the filet to the teriyaki steak...the food was superb!

We were amazed and delighted!!!MMMMM...

We went for dinner on 08/19. DD9 ate off the adult menu. We loved our food. I'll be writing up something soon. Next time (no trip currently planned :sad2:) I am planning on one breakfast and one dinner.

I loved going for dinner and then over to Magic Kingdom for the night (EMH).

My wife and I are going for breakfast in Dec. Anyone else have a breakfast story? Hows the coffee?

My DD13 and DH went to Kona Cafe on the Premium plan and had to ask both their server and the manager for their food a total of 5 times before they received it. They stopped in around 1 pm and had a 2:30 reservation at GF spa. They told the server right away that they needed to be at GF spa at 2:30. They received their drinks and appitizer right away, but had to ask 5 times for their entrees. They waited over 45 minutes for their entrees to arrive while three surrounding tables were seated and fed before getting their meal. Even the people sitting next to them complained to the staff on their behalf. No appologies were made by the server or the manager, and since we were on the dining plan, the waiter received an 18% tip for doing little to nothing!! DD and DH had to take their desert with them in order to make their reservations on time at the spa.

This was a secret day for my DD and it was almost ruined due to the poor service at Kona!!!

An hour and a half isn't alot of time for an app, entre, and desert. Were any of their entres ordered well done? That adds alot to the cooking time, plus different items vary in time they need to be prepared in. If there order went in after a few other of the same item then that definitely would have added to the time. Don't let one bad experience prevent you from returning to an amazing restaurant.
